Farmers Take Note!
If you sell at your farmstand or have a full-on farm store, take time to look over the  Farmstand Audit Tool. This is designed to help you be a  better retailer. Created by Annie Harlow for NOFA-VT it assists farmers in self-evaluation to formulate a retail mindset. This is useful to review in your slower, off season and best prepare for your 2019 season.

The Farmacy Project
ACORN has taken the lead on the Addison County Farmacy Project, a collaboration to increase the availability of fresh produce for patients.

We are partnered with the Vermont Department of Health, Porter Medical Center, county health care providers, and local farmers to provide fresh, locally grown, food to the county's most vulnerable citizens. In this project individuals with preventable, diet-related illnesses have access to with healthy food while also providing our farmers with new markets.

Prescriptions written by health care providers make available free CSA shares furnished by local farmers. This will amount to about twelve pounds of fresh produce per week, at no charge to the patients and farmers are paid through the program.

This is a concept we have been working on for about two years. In reaching across our network, we have built a strong collaborative approach with the medical and healthcare community, successfully raised money for our first year and introduced farmers to new markets.

We are grateful to all our partners, sponsors and individuals who have supported our efforts.

 Coffee Workshops at VCC
Our small-town roaster with big flavor and complex character share their unique style of slow-roasting beans in small batches with workshops.

They know beans, roasting, and flavor profiles and are now sharing their knowledge in a series of workshops in their neighborly cafe. Next up is May 1 from 10:30-11  l earn the process from green bean to package.  Get all their workshop announcements on Facebook  or   sign up for their emails covering all the topics and the times from May 1 to August 21!
