Just like that summer has come and gone. Autumn is now in full swing. At Trauma Recovery, EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Programs we have been hard at work preparing for the final months of 2021, as well as making plans for next year.

As part of our work to prepare and train members of our Trauma Recovery Network prior to disasters, we were pleased to provide TRN members access to two online distance learning courses at no charge, for a period of six weeks. We are thrilled that the courses, Resource Development & Installation and EMD & Symptom Reduction, received over 500 downloads! We'd like to share the following message from Susan, in response to this offering,

"I just wanted to say thank you to HAP for providing me/us with these 2 courses... it was so good to review the concepts and protocols. During this COVID19 pandemic there has been so much demand for mental health services in my solo practice. I felt you had my back with the offering and your reminders. Thanks for your caring."

It's a wonderful and necessary reminder, especially during these challenging times, that we are stronger and better together. It is our amazing team and community that continue to drive our mission forward.

On Wednesday, August 25th, 2021 Trauma Recovery/HAP hosted a virtual Volunteer Recognition Night to celebrate and honor our incredible volunteer community. We began the evening with a presentation from guest speaker, Natalie Keng of Chinese Southern Belle, celebrated the many accomplishments of our organization since we last gathered as a community in September 2019, and honored 9 volunteers with awards to recognize their hard work, commitment to our mission, and passion for EMDR therapy.

Facilitator in Training (FiT) Orientation Day

We are excited for our upcoming Facilitator in Training Orientation Day on Friday, October 29.

Following this orientation, the next opportunity for FiT Orientation will be Friday, March 11, 2022.

7 am – 4 pm in the Pacific Time Zone
8 am – 5 pm in the Mountain Time Zone
9 am – 6 pm in the Central Time Zone
10 am – 7 pm in the Eastern Time Zone

In order to participate, an application and supporting materials must be submitted at least 4 weeks prior to the orientation day.

After nearly two years of planning and preparation, the hard work of the “Ethiopian EMDR Organizing Committee,” with the administrative and financial support of Trauma Recovery/HAP, resulted in a group of 26 Ethiopian therapists completing EMDR Part-1 Basic Training. 

The training team consisted of Dr. Dani Kahn, Trainer, and Dr. Phyllis Strauss, Facilitator, from Israel, and Dorothy Ashman, Facilitator, Joset Munro, Facilitator, and Judith Berger, Facilitator-in-Training from the US.
