COVID-19 Update

The Arc New York SIP-PL Virtual Town Hall
OPWDD has proposed significant changes to our funding, and is seeking comments on the proposed SIP-PL regulations.  The Arc Chapters are involved, both financially and in leadership roles, with the three largest Care Coordination Organizations in the state. These organizations, in turn, have taken different steps toward preparing for a managed care environment. At the same time, the essential role of every chapter is as a provider of services.

It is important for us to begin a thoughtful discussion of where The Arc New York should stand in this evolving environment.  The Arc New York is hosting a town hall discussion/webinar on June 9 at 1:30 PM to open this dialogue.

The webinar will feature The Arc New York CEOs and EDs who are involved with each of the three Care Coordination organizations, to talk about their vision for the future of our services. In addition, Mike Damiano will present the perspective of the Finger Lakes Collaborative, and Amy Howard will discuss the work of the "Building for Our Future" workgroup, to the extent that the group is looking at overlap with these policy issues.

The webinar will begin with a brief overview of The Arc New York's role in each of these organizations, through the involvement of our Chapters. We will hear from the panelists on their long term vision for the future, as well as the more immediate question of what position, if any, The Arc New York should take on the pending SIP-PL regulations. We will try to leave time for questions. The goal for this session is to determine the perspective of the professional leadership of The Arc New York regarding these critical issues, and to either identify, or begin to work toward, a common understanding of the best path forward for our organization.
