School Board Meeting This Tuesday, April 23, 2019
At its next meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, the Board of Education will conduct its "second reading" before voting whether to approve the recommended "Teen Talk" curriculum as part of the California Healthy Youth Act mandate to update sexual health instruction in middle and high school. The Board will also review and discuss many new "business and non-instructional" Board policies recommended by staff and CSBA, consider authorizing the borrowing of funds for cash flow purposes during 2019-20, and recognize the District's teachers and counselors, classified employees, and students with recent successes.

Superintendent Search Update
On Tuesday, April 16, the Board met in Closed Session for over five hours with its superintendent search firm consultants, James Guerra and Mike Escalante from JG Consulting/Escalante & Associates. After a vetting that eliminated those applicants who did not meet the Board's qualifications, the Board read written application packets and viewed video interviews of many qualified candidates.
After careful consideration, the Board decided to invite six highly-qualified applicants to meet the Board for an in-person interview on Friday, April 26. In order to maintain the confidentiality of the applicants and fairness of the search process, the interviews will be held in Closed Session. The April 26 meeting will begin at 2:15 p.m. with Public Comment. Finalists will be interviewed on April 27, with Public Comment beginning at 8 a.m. Public notices of the Special Closed Sessions will be posted next week in accordance with the law.
