This Week

Illinois General Assembly
The House and Senate are on Easter break for the weeks of April 15 and April 22.

The House and the Senate return to Springfield on April 30 for the final month of the legislative session.

We continue our efforts to support the passage of SB 1591, the Illinois Chamber proposal to promote the building and maintenance of data centers in Illinois.  Yesterday, along with Chamber Tax Institute and Tech Council member QTS, we hosted a tour of the QTS data center in Chicago.

SB 1591 passed the Senate unanimously on April 10 and is now in the House.

On Monday, Illinois Chamber Tax Institute law firm member Horwood Marcus and Berk hosted the Tax Institute quarterly meeting.  Senate Revenue committee Chairperson Senator Toi Hutchinson was the featured speaker.  I also provided a mid-session legislative update.  Here is a link to my presentation.

Please note the upcoming event on the side column.  Tax Institute member accounting firm BDO is holding a complimentary webinar - Illinois Unclaimed Property Compliance & Enforcement Update featuring insights from unclaimed property specialists from BDO and Horwood Marcus & Berk.  Click the link at the left to register.
