Dear CGS Family,
We are endeavoring to strengthen the "connective tissue" of our CGS family in many ways, particularly during this COVID-19 season. This viral disease is reminding us acutely of what God intends his Church to be always: the body of Christ, working and ministering together corporately
This is a time for courage... But also a time for discernment. All of us are vulnerable to becoming infected by SARS-CoV-2 (which is the virus that causes COVID-19), but not all of us are equally susceptible to the adverse consequences of coronavirus infection itself. The CDC has provided
guidance
that will allow you to assess these matters objectively and in proper context.
Please engage in prayerful discernment of your personal risk profile (and the risk profile of those who live in your home):

If you are in a slightly different position, i.e. you are able to meet your own weekly needs (either on your own or with assistance from close friends and family) but judge that it is unwise for you to otherwise move about in the community, please join your brothers and sisters above by volunteering in
other crucially important ways
from your home location.
If your judgment is that your personal circumstances allow you to shop or run errands for those who are medically fragile, please consider joining our
doorstep team
towards those ends. And take a moment to be encouraged in Christ by viewing the growing
roster
of the brothers and sisters who are joining you in this endeavor.
Regardless of our individual circumstances, we are all of us knit together in Christ and knit together within our CGS family. COVID-19 is graphically and dramatically reminding us of
Scripture's insistence that
"...God has put the body together, ...so that there would be no division in the body, but that the members would have the same concern for each other.
So if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and individual members of it."
