Utilizing building automation, data, analysis, and diagnostic methods to create value. The use of analytics provides a better understanding of building and equipment performance allowing historical trending, pattern recognition, and correlation between the cause and effect, of issues and events, occurring or not occurring in building equipment and subsystems.

Last chance before IFMA FMP program changes August 31, 2019!
All students must meet the requirements (including passing the assessments) for the program within which they started. They cannot take some courses under the existing FMP program and complete the remaining courses under
the revised FMP program.
Please
contact us at the Seattle IFMA Chapter with any additional questions.
Anyone who purchases the full FMP kit from now through July 31 will be able to complete the program within the standard allotted timeframe. As noted, students completing courses individually must purchase any outstanding modules by July 31.
About the changes to the FMP Program coming August 31, 2019:
As part of IFMA's ongoing process to keep IFMA credentials relevant, a practice analysis for the Facility Management Professional™ (FMP®) was recently completed. Based on the Global Job Task Analysis, this review identified the core knowledge, skills and abilities all emerging facility professionals need to have to lead and align their facility operations with organizational objectives. Although the study determined that, overall, IFMA's content in these four areas remains highly relevant, it also identified opportunities to further enhance the courses.
IFMA will be releasing the updated materials and program in September 2019.
IFMA started working with UW Professional & Continuing Education and BOMA to build a long-term strategy for cultivating the pipeline of facility managers in order to meet the growing needs of the workforce.
Our next step will be to establish a working group with key stakeholders in the region. This collaboration is still in the early stages but if you are interested in joining this working group please email Bob Tribo at tribobob@amazon.com.
Why Smart Buildings?
June 18th, 2019
8:30am - 4pm
Leveraging Smart Tech for Building Performance
Join the Smart Buildings Center and the Building Commissioning Association for a one day conference on June 18th, 2019 at the Pacific Tower in Seattle, WA. The conference, aimed at commercial building owners and managers, building operations and engineering staff, commissioning agents, architects, engineers, and property developers, offers opportunities to gain knowledge, connections and success regarding building performance through smart technologies and practices.
Attendees will learn how smart technologies and practices improve building performance, increase tenant and occupant productivity, enhance security, and provide sustained operational cost savings. Hear about real world examples of smart technology applications and practices from building professionals in the industry. Conference sessions will focus on IoT (Internet of Things) for building performance, what tools people are using to increase building performance, and what the industry is doing with these advances in technology.
To find your building(s), you'll need your Seattle OSE Building ID or your Portfolio Manager user name. Click on Search by OSE Building ID or Search by User Name to get started.
Enter your ID or user name in the search field and results will appear in the Search Results section.
Once you find your building(s), look for the current reporting status.
Not Compliant or Requires Verification
If the building is "Not Compliant" or "Requires Verification" follow the directions in the Next Steps column of the table. The Compliance Resources section at the bottom of the portal provides guidance on how to address common issues in Portfolio Manager.
Compliant
If the building is "Compliant", your benchmarking report is complete and you're all set for 2018 reporting. You'll need to report again next year by April 1st, 2020.
Verification Required for Buildings with Possible Errors
The City of Seattle is now identifying annual benchmarking reports with possible errors and requiring further review. This applies to buildings with either extremely low or high energy use (outliers), buildings that could be missing a fuel or meters, and buildings with potential errors in reporting square footage.
Reports with possible errors will require additional verification to be considered compliant.
Accurate annual reporting is a requirement per Seattle Municipal Code (22.920.120).
Energy Benchmarking 101: Learn how to benchmark your building
Learn how to benchmark your building's energy performance using the free online tool ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager to support compliance with the City of Seattle's annual benchmarking and reporting requirement. Participants will learn about the benchmarking process and local utility services available to auto-upload energy consumption data from Seattle City Light, Puget Sound Energy and Enwave. Workshop participants will create an account in Portfolio Manager and begin the initial energy performance rating for their building with guidance from an experienced benchmarking instructor complimented by individual support from the help desk technical assistant. Participants are encouraged to bring data from their own building to the session. A data collection sheet will be emailed to you prior to the workshop. Sample building data will be available for participants who do not bring their own data.
