The Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB) is the independent regulator of offshore oil and gas activity off the coasts of Newfoundland and Labrador, on behalf of the federal and provincial governments. Created in 1986 through the Atlantic Accord and its implementing legislation, the C-NLOPB provides regulatory oversight of operator activities in the areas of health and safety, environmental protection, resource management and Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador benefits.

The C-NLOPB invites applications for the contractual position of Senior Advisor, Regulatory Enforcement. Reporting to the Chief Conservation Officer and Chief Safety Officer, this senior position will oversee the establishment of a dedicated, internal business unit and enhanced procedures with respect to formal enquiries or investigations potentially leading to enforcement actions such as Notices of Non-Compliance, Orders, Administrative Monetary Penalties and/or prosecutions. This new position will also be responsible for development and oversight of any appropriate new C-NLOPB Officer training, as well as possibly assisting with investigations leading to potential enforcement action.

The role also provides strategic advice to the LSO’s Senior Management Team and drives the importance and role of people in long term planning.

The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is the statutory body responsible for regulating Ontario’s capital markets in accordance with the mandate established in the provincial Securities Act and the Commodity Futures Act. The Commission’s mandate is to provide protection to investors from unfair, improper or fraudulent practices, to foster fair and efficient capital markets and confidence in capital markets, and to contribute to the stability of the financial system and the reduction of systemic risk. This mandate is performed through policy, operational, adjudication and enforcement work. The OSC also contributes to national and global securities regulation development.

The Communications & Public Affairs Branch plays an integral role in promoting the OSC’s reputation as an effective and responsive securities regulator. The Branch provides strategic communications advice to ensure the timely and effective communication of OSC priorities, policies and actions across all corporate channels. These include stakeholder engagement, executive remarks, corporate materials, internal communications, media relations, issues management, the OSC Website and intranet, and enterprise social media.
