Nurse Scholar Program, Private Pay Option Available
The AgriSafe Nurse Scholar program is a
distance learning opportunity available to rural nurses.
Distance education (a total of 18 hours),
provided by experienced health & safety
educators will enable rural nurses to
increase
their knowledge base in
identification and
assessment of diseases
related to agricultural work exposures. The first cohort will have a maximum of 35 nurses.
Application period: Applications for the AgriSafe Nurse Scholar program can be submitted through May 16, 2018.
Interested applicants must provide proof of licensure in primary state of practice, a brief educational history/background, and area/type of current nursing practice.

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month
According to the National Safety Council (NSC), the latest statistics show an increase of motor vehicle fatalities up 6% from 2015. In addition, more than 40,000 people were killed on our nation's roadways last year, and distracted driving is a major contributor. Distracted driving has been identified as a public health crisis and is preventable.
Distracted Driving Awareness Month in April is a united effort to recognize and eliminate preventable deaths from distracted driving.

Progress Report- Preparing Women in Agriculture
AgriSafe has been working to improve the health and safety among female agriculture producers. Through our women's health campaigns in collaboration with CS-CASH, Women in Agriculture organizations, commodity associations, farm media and FarmHer we have customized occupational health trainings, media messages and a toolkit for women. FREE Training: Respiratory Hazards in Grain Handling
AgriSafe in partnership with the National Education Center for Agricultural Safety (NECAS) is offering health and safety training to grain handling workers through training workshops.
Training topics include confined space grain bin entry, respiratory protection program and prevention strategies.
Target audience includes agricultural producers, workers in high-hazard grain operations and English and non-English speaking grain handling workers.
