University chapters go panning for a GOLD award in 2018-2019!

Just because we're long past the days of the 49ers, don't think that panning for gold has disappeared into history. The prospect of GOLD
is definitely booming in IISE university chapters.  The Chapter Recognition Program recognizes chapters' accomplishments. Point total on the 2018-2019 UCAR is the basis for the 2019 awards. Who says the Gold Rush is over? IISE University chapters have already started recruiting members, holding activities, participating in IISE events, improving chapter communications and expanding their outreach programs and much more to earn GOLD in 2020.

Chapters awarded the Silver and Bronze Awards will be in the next issue.
Is that a fact?   The ground was so rich during the 1849 GOLD RUSH that as much as 96 ounces of gold were recovered from a single pan of gold. That is $100,000+ at today's rate of exchange.
60 leaders experienced VOLT at 2019 Annual Conference

Once again, the Volunteer Leadership Training Session (VOLT) at annual conference brought leaders together to learn from the experts. The theme was  "Leading Volunteers: Getting Motivated and Getting Work Done".  Popular during the session was the interactive leadership
challenge facilitated by Kaz Takeda (Walt Disney Parks and Resorts), Michael Foss (Amazon), Sean Genovese (Lockheed Martin), and Jared Frederici (The Poirier Group).

The session also featured an impressive panel to discuss with attendees how to lead volunteers. Panel members were Bill Tolo (Best Buy), Steve Snelling (Boeing), Tina Agustiady (MetLife), Nakia Ololade (Lockheed Martin), and John Corliss (PEER Consultants).

VOLT never disappoints. It is a great session that  IISE leaders don't want to miss. Watch for your invite next year for VOLT at the 2020 IISE Annual Conference and Expo in New Orleans!

Big Data, Industry 4.0, Artificial Intelligence and you

IISE's  Engineering Lean & Six Sigma Conference 2020 can help you navigate the already-here world of Big Data/Industry 4.0/Artificial Intelligence.  #ELSS2019 scheduled for Sept. 23-25 at the Magnolia Hotel in Houston, Texas, has sessions dealing with how customized software collects Big Data, how to sort out fragmented and unstructured data, how Big Data/Industry 4.0 will expand Lean Six Sigma's ability to solve manufacturing problems, and why the future LSS Green and Black Belt must add Artificial Intelligence and Data Science to their toolkit to continue adding value to their organizations.
