Calvary Lutheran Church in Solana Beach is seeking a Family Life Director (Children, Youth and Family). This position is flexible part-time.

The Family Life Director, with Calvary ministry teams and volunteers will develop and coordinate children, youth and family ministries that reflect the mission of Calvary Lutheran Church, Gathered by God, Inspired by Love, Empowered to Serve.

In partnership with the Family Life Teams, create a strategic plan across Children, Youth & Families environments that align with the vision of Calvary. Coordinate and actively engage in all 3 environments, along with volunteers, intentional ministry purpose, objectives and calendars as it relates to gatherings, events and educational platforms. While this position, coordinates and advocates for all 3 environments, it is anticipated that hands on attention be given directly to our Children's Sunday morning experience and Youth activities. Ensure a safe environment for children, youth, and family for all activities at Calvary as part of the Protection of Minors Committee and enforcing the POM policy. Collaborate with ministry teams providing family life resources as needed. Maintain an annual calendar of activities in coordination with the Senior Pastor, other staff members and ministry teams and leadership. Collaborate with Family Life team leaders to budget for the ministry. Coordinate marketing and publicity for all Family Life programs, events, and opportunities at Calvary to students, parents, congregation and the community.

LEVN, the Lutheran Episcopal Volunteer Network, is looking for young adults (age 21-30) with Bachelor's degrees for an 11-month program of non-profit volunteer service and learning about social justice. From the end of August 2019 to the end of July 2020, our corps members will be provided housing, utilities, health coverage, spiritual direction, and a $535/month living stipend. We also offer a $1000 re-entry grant at the completion of the program.

The placement sites for the upcoming program year include faith-based non-profits, secular non-profits, congregations, outdoor ministry, and our campus ministry at UC Davis. These service sites address issues of homelessness, food insecurity, unemployment, children and youth ministries, and other important social justice issues facing our communities.

We gather each week for evening prayer, dinner, and formation. The corps members live in intentional community in one of two residences: The Belfry, an apartment attached to our campus ministry center in Davis, CA, or The Priory, an apartment at All Saints Episcopal Church in Sacramento, CA. We're an ecumenical program in the Episcopal Service Corps network; applicants needn't be either Lutheran or Episcopal to apply-interest in Christian spirituality is the only expectation. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until July 31, 2019.

El Camino Pines & Luther Glen Farm

Counselors

Counselors are the face of LRCC's summer program. They spend each week directly interacting with campers, whether it be at El Camino Pines, the Luther Glen Farm, at a Day Camp or on the beach. Counselors spend two weeks in training. If you love working with kids, being a counselor could be right for you! Applicants must be at least 18 years old, or completed our Staff in Training program to be on the counseling staff.

Support Staff

Without Support Staff, LRCC's summer program wouldn't run! We depend on individuals that love behind the scenes work washing dishes, splitting firewood and other maintenance work. Previous experience or skills aren't necessary, but servant hearts are! Support Staff may be placed with a cabin group if extra staffing is needed.

Staff in Training

The Staff In Training program is an exciting, immersive camp leadership program designed for 16 and 17 year-olds. SIT's learn the ins and outs of working at camp, from leading a Bible study to engaging campers of all ages in games and activities. The SIT program is for youth who love God, like working with kids and who might want to work at camp in the future.
