Guide to Holy Week worship at Covenant
Join us for services in person or online
Maundy Thursday , Contemporary Service, 7 p.m., Sanctuary: Remember Jesus' last hours with his disciples through dramatic interplay, song, prayer and communion.

Good Friday, 7 p.m. Sanctuary: The Good Friday story will be told in word and choral music accompanied by flute, oboe, cello, harpsichord and organ.

Children's Saturday Easter Service, Saturday, 10 a.m. Sanctuary: Children will present the Easter story and sing. Following the service, there will be a "new life" baby animal petting zoo on the Circle and Easter Egg hunts for preschoolers-kindergarten.

Easter Sunday, Traditional: 8:45 a.m. Chapel and 11 a.m. Sanctuary; Contemporary: 9:30 a.m. Sanctuary and 11 a.m. Fellowship Hall. 
  • Trumpet and choir at 8:45 a.m.
  • At 11 a.m. traditional, a brass and organ prelude; Handel's Hallelujah Chorus and a Tanzanian celebration of Jesus' resurrection; choral anthems include This Joyful Eastertide and Christ the Lord is Risen Today
  • At 9:30 and 11 a.m. contemporary, hits by Mumford & Sons as well as Easter Song and Oh Happy Day.

The Park Church invites Covenant to Make Friday Good
Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Donate new or gently used clothing and shoes, children and teen books, household goods and non-perishable food items. Drop off donations at The Park Church Independence, Liberty Hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Our friends at The Park invite us to cast a net of prayer over our city on Good Friday. Children's choirs host sharing service
Wednesday, April 24 at 6:30 p.m. in Chapel
See the children's music ministry in action. Our young singers will demonstrate spiritual concepts they have learned over the year. Fifth graders will receive hymnals for faithful service. Bring a picnic to enjoy beforehand. Ice cream is provided afterward. Get connected here.
  • Sing or play an instrument? Covenant offers opportunities to fit your child's schedule, style and experience level. Together, we worship God through the gift of music. 
  • Invitation to fifth graders: Join the Youth Singers to prepare a song for 11 a.m. Sanctuary worship on May 19. Rehearsals are April 28, May 5 and May 12 from 10:30 to 10:50 a.m.
Child of the Covenant celebrates 2018 babies
Sunday, April 28 at 9:30 and 11 a.m.

Habitat build nears conclusion
Three dates left to complete Olivia's home
Our remaining build dates are Thursday to Saturday, April 25-27. A dedication ceremony is at 3 p.m. on April 27 for future homeowner Olivia, a Charlotte native who is excited for a new beginning for herself and her 5-year-old daughter, Miya. Get connected here.
 
Teacher Appreciation Week at Highland
Lift up educators at our partner school
Through Covenant's partnership with Highland Renaissance Academy, we lift up teachers and students by providing after-school programs, reading buddies and more.  Contribute time, gifts or supplies to support our upcoming teacher appreciation week (May 6-10) . Details here.
 
This summer: Be a camp buddy
Highland students will go to Camp Harrison
Covenant partners with YMCA's Camp Harrison to send 20 Highland students to summer camp. Camp buddies encourage and guide families in preparing for this new experience. Consider serving June 16-22 or 23-29. Financial support is also welcome - it costs $550 to send a student to camp. Contact Julia Watkins to learn more.

Help serve our neighbors by preparing Texas Hash and desserts. Our next meal is Tuesday. Please place items in the Fellowship Hall freezer at your convenience. Contact Terry Horne to let us know if you made a drop-off.
 
Uptown Bible studies will begin new series
The Bible's Problematic Texts
For those who work or live in uptown Charlotte, we meet from noon to 1 p.m. at Foundation for the Carolinas and offer the same study on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The front desk will point you to the right room. Feel free to bring lunch. We have water and coffee available.

Coming up next: In the week following Easter, we'll kick off a one-month series called "The Bible's Problematic Texts" on  controversial and troubling verses. We'll discern how these verses can be understood in light of a God who seeks justice and peace for the world. Get connected here.

Fresh Air. Fellowship. Hike with Covenant.
Next hike is Saturday, May 11
Join Covenant friends and families for hikes led by Rev. Grady Moseley and Lauren Sawyers. The hikes are accessible for all ages and skill levels.

Next up, on Saturday, May 11, we'll gather in Linville, NC mid-morning to take one of several hiking options, and then meet for barbecue and social time at Suzanne and Bob Henderson's nearby home. Details here.
