French artists makes a lasting impression
A group of 30 French artists including Monet, Degas, Renoir, and Pissarro, publicly display their artwork for the first time. The name 'Impressionists' is soon attached to the artists after a critic publishes a scathing review titled 'The Exhibition of the Impressionists.'

Jackie Robinson integrates baseball
More than 26,000 spectators, at least 14,000 of them African Americans, crowd into New York's Ebbet Field as
Jack Roosevelt Robinson, the first African American to play baseball for a Major League team, starts as the Brooklyn Dodgers' first baseman against the Boston Braves. Robinson will endure racist resistance throughout his first season in the majors, but the national pastime's color barrier will be forever broken.

purified botulinum toxin injected into facial muscles reduces or eliminates the appearance of frown lines for up to three months, the
FDA approves its use for adults under the name BOTOX Cosmetic. The procedure will become wildly popular compared to other
plastic surgery treatments, and more than seven million injections will be given in 2018 alone.

A not-for-profit cooperative association of independent businesses, founded from an economic development research project on the
importance of small business development conducted by the
Houston Chamber of Commerce in the late 1970's.
With our first Co-Op meeting held March 14, 1983, to date we've worked with 65,641
people, generating 45,046 tips, leads, referrals and items of new business, generating revenues exceeding one billion dollars, founded the Entrepreneurial Development Center - Houston's first and Texas' oldest small business incubator and co-working space, First Houston Small Business Seed Capital Fund - literally the first small business seed capital fund in Houston, the Womens Business Center - first business incubator for women business owners in the country with residency space and the Virtual Business Center - the first remote business incubator in the world - all totally without public funding, grants, gifts, donations or contributions.
Our Entrepreneurial Research Division conclusively demonstrated "entrepreneurship" could be taught in a classroom environment, resulting in colleges and universities, globally,
commencing entrepreneurial courses.
