Easter Day

Weekly Chimes

"This is the night, when all who believe in Christ are delivered from the gloom..." So we will sing in the Saturday night Easter Vigil. Truly, this is the week when we relive the great mystery of our faith. "Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again." Tonight we continue with the contemplation of Tenebrae - a series of scripture and hymns reflecting the darkness of the world into which light of Christ's resurrection shines. Thursday our Maundy Thursday is one of the most beautiful and solemn worship experiences of the year. Friday's Stations of the Cross and evening liturgy, and Saturday's first Easter service at the Vigil all culminate with the most glorious and joy-filled Easter Sunday worship.

Remember that Maundy Thursday includes a children's teaching worship service about foot washing and communion at 6:00pm in the Parish Hall. We have nursery open at 6:45 for the 7:00 service, as well for all Sunday services, morning and night. (PLUS... If there is rain on Friday, we do "Stations of the Cross" inside our church rather than Town Center.)

We are still needing some more Easter eggs and candies. You brought in about 1,000 yesterday! Only another 750 or so will get us to our normal 2,500. (The three dentists in our parish are thankful.)  I'm still looking for one coordinator to help guide the egg hiding for 9:00AM Sunday. Email me

Yesterday was a great day for EYC at Busch Gardens. 13 of us spent the day on rides and playing games. I got in almost as many steps on my fitness tracker as being on pilgrimage with the high schoolers.

Even better was our Palm Sunday. Marti Jones, (with family Mike Jones and Lee Kwiatkowski) brought "Moonie" the mini-horse for our procession and children's sermon. Every service had a wonderful group reading of the Passion gospel ending with the crucifixion. It was a beautiful day. After Sundays@5 we had a great evening for Men's Night with about 45 of us talking with Gene Black and three fabulous brews from Pleasure House Brewery. When I finally got home after four worship services and our Men's dinner, I felt like it had been one of our best days. THANKS to God and to all of you who were part.

This weekend will be even better as we celebrate the resurrected Christ among us - and shout that "A..." word again.
