Whether you are engaging online or in person, returning or new, this is a great time to join us as we celebrate our bicentennial and bring people onto campus for the first time in many months.

Mark S. Wrighton to Become Interim GW President Jan. 1 |

George Washington University President Thomas J. LeBlanc will retire at the end of the fall 2021 semester, it was announced at a Faculty Senate meeting on Friday. Mark S. Wrighton, a former chancellor of Washington University in St. Louis, will serve as GW’s interim president starting Jan. 1.

Paralegal Studies Program Gains American Bar Association Approval |

The CPS Paralegal Studies program has met the approval of the American Bar Association (ABA) for the excellence of its curriculum, faculty and administration, the only such program granted the designation in Washington, D.C.
The CPS program joined a cadre of elite national institutions with the designation after undergoing a rigorous assessment.

Getting to Know Tierney Pitzer: New IT Program Director |
|
Tierney Pitzer began her position as program director for the Information Technology Bachelor’s Degree Completion Program July 1. She has more than 20 years of industry experience in software programming and IT project management in the DMV area, plus 10 years of teaching in higher education.
Now that Professor Pitzer is settling into her new role, we wanted to give our readers a chance to get to know her a little better.

Publishing Students Contribute to Antiracism Toolkit for Organizations |
|
More than a dozen GW Master of Professional Studies in Publishing students were able to gain “real world industry experience” while participating in a special projects editing course this summer.
The students, under the direction of Publishing program director and associate professor John Warren, and faculty member Randy Townsend (MPS 2011), contributed to volunteer efforts for the August 25 publication of the Antiracism Toolkit for Organizations.

Master’s degree student in homeland security Trishi Malhotra to receive an INSF scholarship to pursue a career in national security. Her exceptionally strong academic record, and personal story, gave her an edge in the highly competitive scholarship selection process.

Congratulations to College of Professional Studies (CPS) double alumna, Mary Paradis, BPS ’18, MPS ’20, on her new position as Chief of Police & Executive Director of Public Safety at The University of Mississippi Medical Center. She pursued both her academic degrees from CPS while working full time.

The Graduate School of Political Management at the George Washington University announced the appointment of former U.S. Reps. Mike Bishop (R-Mich.) and Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (D-Fla.) and former Obama administration senior official and Capitol Hill staffer Dana Gresham as GSPM Fellows for the 2021-22 academic year.
