Do you have a spiritual practice? You might have one without even realizing it! Join us this Sunday to hear Rev. Sally make the case for why everyone, even atheists, should have a spiritual practice to call their own. This Sunday will also include an introduction to our new consulting minister, Rev. Karen Bush, with a chance to hear about her own spiritual practice and her life as a United Church of Christ minister.

UPCOMING SUNDAY SERVICES
REV. KAREN BUSH
Sunday, September 26 at 10:15 a.m. via Live-stream

Through out the ages the human animal has often lived in stress-filled times. The innate drive of “fight or flight” lays deep in every one of us in our basic nervous system and is a powerful instinct for survival.

Over the past few years for many of us our “fight or flight” has been in over drive with unrelenting anxiety and uncertainty. We find ourselves living too many days feeling flooded, overwhelmed, cut off from others, from ourselves and from our capacity to feel peaceful and in balance.

Join us on Sunday September 26 when our consulting minister, Reverend Karen Bush, will lead us as together we explore the spiritual practice which each the Dalai Lama, Mother Teresa, Mahatma Ghandi and Thich Nhat Hahn name as essential in the quest for inner peace and balance in profoundly unsettling and stress-filled times.

NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

We have had quite a few people respond to our (voluntary) vaccine registry. If you have not yet filled it out and want to, please go to this link. This will be helpful data for UUCUC's COVID-19 Advisory Group to review as they continue to discuss plans for reopening once the risk level for COVID-19 decreases. Your information is kept confidential amongst need-to-know staff members.

OUR CARING CONGREGATION
JOYS AND SORROWS sent to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org for last Sunday, September 12, 2021.

From Jessica Augustson: My coworker has been in the hospital these past two weeks with covid pneumonia. I grow increasingly worried about her.

From Rev. Karen Bush: My heart is deeply moved to be welcomed so warmly by so many of you this past week as I begin this journey with you as the UUCUC Consulting Minister. I have loved and appreciated this congregation for many years...and am humbled to join you in this way through this time in the life of this wonderful community.

From Jerry Carden: Remembering my brother, Steve Carden, who lost his battle with alcohol and depression when he took his own life on September 12, 1991. Gone for 30 years. If you struggle with addiction or depression, please reach out.

From The Herzogs: We moved out second kiddo, Ren, into their college dorm at Knox College this week. It promises to be a great year for them! Now we have to learn how to be a family of three…(tears)

From Amy Robinson: COVID strikes again - fully vaccinated mother of COVID positive child in my Girl Scout troop is now testing positive and is symptomatic. Truly worried.

From Rebecca Schlesinger: Thankful for my dear partner’s 30th birthday yesterday.
Please send your joys or sorrows to joysandsorrows@uucuc.organy time before the Joys and Sorrows portion of the service. They will be read aloud.
