Just in time for the new Avengers release, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will open its doors next Thursday, April 25, in North Richland Hills! NRH Parks & Recreation has teamed up with The Cliburn to bring a live classical music performance to North Richland Hills. Italian concert pianist and Cliburn 2017 prize winner Leonardo Pierdomenico will perform at 10 a.m. Wednesday May 1, in the Grand Hall at the NRH Centre, 6000 Hawk Ave. No RSVP or ticket is required for this free performance.

Leonardo Pierdomenico was winner of the Raymond E. Buck Jury Discretionary Award at the 2017 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. He won the 2011 Premio Venezia piano competition in Venice and was a semifinalist at the 2016 Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels. The 26-year-old Italian pianist has performed with many prominent orchestras and has played solo recitals around the world. In 2011, he was awarded a medal for his artistic achievements by Italian President Giorgio Napolitano.

Cliburn in the Community provides the experience of live classical music performance for free to a broad audience through partnerships with vibrant venues and organizations throughout the Fort Worth area. 

 

The City of North Richland Hills reminds you that old furniture, appliances, car parts, tires, tree limbs, scrap metal, building materials and other discarded items should not be stored in your yard or driveway. It is not only unattractive, it can become a breeding ground for insects and rodents and a safety hazard. Please be a good neighbor and chunk your junk!

On Saturday, April 27, 2019, NRH residents can get rid of unwanted bulky items during the annual Spring Community Cleanup. Items can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to noon at the Tarrant County College NE Campus at 828 Harwood Rd in Parking Lot E1 by the tennis courts. Please enter the campus from Boulevard 26. Proof of residency (driver's license or water bill) must be presented.

Moved to a new home in the past year? Recently turned 65 or become disabled? If you answered yes to either question, be sure to submit an application to the Tarrant Appraisal District for your property tax exemptions. Homestead and senior / disabled property tax exemptions are offered by the city, school district and other taxing entities to reduce the amount you pay in property taxes. The application is available online. You will only need to apply once. After your exemptions are in place, if you remain in the same home, they will carry forward each year.

Your current exemptions are listed at the bottom of your property value notice. The Tarrant Appraisal District mailed annual property value notices to Tarrant County homeowners earlier this month. You can learn more about your property value notice on the city's website.

The deadline for homeowners to protest their property value is Wednesday, May 15. Instructions regarding how to file a protest are found on the back of your property value notice. North Richland Hills strives to be the safest community in Tarrant County and to be prepared for all potential natural and man-made disasters. The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) plays an important role in our preparedness. If a disaster or emergency strikes North Richland Hills and overwhelms or delays emergency responders, CERT members will be called upon to help save and sustain lives until additional emergency responders arrive. 

The NRH CERT Class 19 will take place over three Saturdays beginning May 18 and ending June 1. Classes will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Public Safety Training Center on Dick Fisher Drive. The CERT program will cover disaster preparedness, fire safety, light search and rescue, and basic medical skills that can assist your family and your community in times of need.
