Artist Relief: Emergency Grants for Artists
Today, a coalition of national grantmakers, consisting of  Academy of American Poets , Artadia , Creative Capital , Foundation for Contemporary Arts , MAP Fund National YoungArts Foundation , and United States Artists , launches Artist Relief , a fund for artists facing dire financial circumstances due to COVID-19. Artist Relief will provide individual artists with rapid, unrestricted $5,000 grants and other immediate resources. We are also co-launching the COVID-19 Impact Survey for Artists and Creative Workers as an informational resource to the field. The pandemic is disrupting the professional practices and destroying the income stream for artists, and without intervention, individual artists and the arts ecosystem will sustain irreparable damage.

The application and more information can be found at artistrelief.org

The fund will launch with $10 million, consisting of $5 million in seed funding from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation matched with $5 million in initial contributions from an array of foundations across the United States. With these funds, Artist Relief will provide grants to 100 multidisciplinary artists each week through September. Organizers will continue to fund raise beyond the initiation of the grant program to assist with the rapidly escalating needs of the country's artists. Artist Relief relies on the support of a growing number of foundations and individual donors and will continue to evolve as the needs of artists shift over the coming months.

During this time, Artadia will also continue regular programming of giving curator-identified, unrestricted grants to visual artists in six Award cities, with the New York Awardees announced next month, and the Chicago and San Francisco award cycles following later this spring.
