Board of Education Recognizes April Employees of the Month
On Tuesday, the Board of Education recognized our April Employees of the Month: Brendan Holmes, a fabulous math teacher from Bell Intermediate and Lori Gutierrez, the warm and caring secretary from Zeyen Elementary.
College-Going Condors
Recently, eight Alamitos AVID and AVID Excel students were awarded the first annual AVID Legacy Scholarship. This scholarship was created by the school's AVID Parent Leadership Team and supported with fundraising. The students competed with an application and 500 word essay. Winners will be recognized at the school's Awards Night. We are so proud of the amazing AVID program at Alamitos, a National AVID Demonstration School!
Parents Model Lifelong Learning
At its latest Donuts with the Principal Event, Cook Elementary School honored some of its many dedicated parents. In a special ceremony, attended by GGUSD Board of Education Vice President Teri Rocco, students took the lead in presenting their parents with medals for attending more than seven "10 Education Commandments" classes which give parents the tools to help guide their children to academic success.
Mighty Spartans
Doig Intermediate School hosted its Open House recently and showcased the school's exceptional academic and extracurricular programs, as well as its elite status as an AVID National Demonstration School. Doig is a national leader in preparing all students for college, offers 1:1 technology, and many exciting after-school clubs like dance and coding and robotics.  #GGUSDPride
Huskies Receive Statewide Recognition
Hare High School was one of 31 schools recognized as a 2019 Model Continuation High School by the California Department of Education (CDE). Schools named as a Model Continuation High School “have created exemplary programs and strategies that provide students with a second chance at academic success.” Hare has established a nurturing and supportive environment that motivates students to succeed. The innovative programs at Hare give students the educational options and support they need to successfully complete high school, transition into higher education, and enter the workforce. Hare is proud of all Huskies on campus for their accomplishments and contributions to the title of 2019 Model Continuation High School!
Garden Grove High School Celebrates Distinguished School Status
In March 2019, Garden Grove High School (GGHS) was named as a California Distinguished School! GGHS is one of only 74 high schools in California, 11 in Orange County, and 3 in GGUSD, to earn this distinction by closing the achievement gap as measured by California School Dashboard indicators, including growth in English Language Arts and Math. Pacifica and Bolsa Grande high schools also received this prestigious recognition.

Southeast Asian SUCCESS Youth Conference Empowers Next Generation of Leaders
Dozens of GGUSD students attended the Southeast Asian SUCCESS Youth Conference at UCI this past Saturday! At the conference, students discuss Southeast Asian American issues in higher education and participate in workshops on financial aid, social justice, and the Southeast Asian American experience.  #GGUSDPride
Paine Bunnies Hop to Health
Every bunny enjoyed the excitement and entertainment of Paine’s Bunny Hop event. From start to finish, Paine students had a spring in their step as school spirit was on full display. Parents provided water and Cutie Clementines to help the students hop their way to the finish line.  #ChooseGGUSD   #GGUSDPride
Pre-Enrollment for Transitional Kindergarten and Full-Day Kindergarten Is Now Open!

Pre-enrollment for Fall 2019/20 full-day transitional kindergarten and full-day kindergarten classes in the Garden Grove Unified School District is now open! Parents should pre-enroll online as early as possible at  https://enroll.ggusd.us and contact their child’s home school for further assistance. Please note that all GGUSD elementary school offices will be closed for the summer and will resume enrollment when the offices reopen for the school year.
