A documentary by producer/director, Geoph Kozeny about ecovillages and sustainable communities with insights about what works and what doesn’t:

This in-depth program features a brief history of 2500 years of shared living, and an exploration of the “glue” that holds communities together.

Plus profiles of 7 contemporary communities:
Ananda Village (Nevada City CA)
Breitenbush Hot Springs (Detroit OR)
Camphill Special School (Glenmoore PA)
Earthaven (Black Mountain NC)
Nyland Cohousing (Lafayette CO)
Purple Rose (San Francisco CA)
Twin Oaks (Louisa VA)
Our last growing community circle featured the theme of “Visions”. We heard from Natasha Nouveau on her exciting Growing Local Project , from Cassian with the Trees On The Green Project and from Bob Sample with his "Visions & Lessons" for the future of Crystal Waters. Michael also presented a multi-layered vision for the revival and extension of CW's much loved community publication - The Village Voice - and his intentions to extend it from being purely local to be a global vehicle aiming to promote ecovillages everywhere – making use of video, social media and the online magazine.

Each of these projects was organised independently but they fit together beautifully to illuminate different parts of a future vision of Crystal Waters . The synchronicity behind these separate projects seemed very clear.

Some of the highlights and outcomes of the Visions session:

Elders : a mentor program for the younger generations at CW, aged care support within the village, a buddy system. Hospice and palliative care support for the elderly from the community.

Administration : set up a project office and systems to support project initiatives.

Membership : a new class of membership for people to join and support CW who live outside the community (no voting rights).

Landscape : great support from attendees around sustainable food production and medicine gardens to be created on the CAP site.

Closing circle : to anchor in the visions for our personal futures and CW community.
Our journey so far...

Growing Community Session #1 - Introduction
Growing Community Session #2 - Values
Growing Community Session #3 - Visions

These are the sessions we've moved through to help us understand what is most important to us personally, and as a community; what we wish to see created here at Crystal Waters. Now we have reached the time for action!

Which brings us to...

Our next session: Growing Community #4 – Roles

As the energy of change builds at Crystal Waters there's a sense that a cohesive plan is emerging from all of us . There is a synergy between what we have initiated as individuals and what is emerging collectively.

This next community circle is an opportunity for us to come together consciously to understand better what role each of us has to play in what is unfolding here.

We will look into answering these important questions together:

What is the role we are best suited to within the community and our lives?

What area do we feel the greatest sense of responsibility towards and is most aligned with who we are and our skills?

How can we best serve ourselves, each other, and the world?

AND the following activities will support us to answer these questions....
Daniel
...will talk about the relationship between ‘roles’ and ‘responsibility’ and how we benefit from getting comfortable with this dirty word ‘responsibility’. Rather than being a burden it can be tremendously empowering and allow us to have much greater influence over our lives and what is important to us - but only if we act in the areas that we are skilled in and do not overextend ourselves.
Robin
...will take us through a process to look at the existing roles we play in our lives and community and the ones we would like to play. She will then help us to identify our greatest skills or the ones we wish to learn and develop. As usual she'll lead an introductory circle and engage us with create and interactive process that support the flow and fun for the afternoon.
Richard Mochelle
...will talk to us briefly about global responsibility and facilitate a process where we ask ourselves the big question - “What is the work that you believe must be done, that is imperative to do, regardless of whether we get paid for it, that we must do collaboratively, in response to what you believe are the most important global challenges confronting us?” and have the opportunity to share and discuss our answers together as a circle.
Michael
The role of Eco Village Voice editor, publisher, promotions emerged from perceived community needs... and he'll discuss "the commitment" and tackling ongoing responsibilities of this role. Michael has embraced the concept of Ikigai (reason for being). In other words, if you can identify and align with the overlap of "What you love. What you are good at. What the world needs. What you can be paid for"...
it will create a well-grounded mission and eventually a satisfying life.
