" Thank you very much for talking with me last night after the program, it was a privilege to attend the evening. The combination of Jack's presentation and the thoughtful contributions you shared created a powerful evening, rich with empathy, support, and invaluable reach to illuminate the deeply painful feelings of grief after a suicide loss." -  After Suicide presentation attendee
After Suicide: Understanding Your Grief presentations

Geared towards people who are grieving a loss to suicide, as well as those who care for them, our upcoming After Suicide: Understanding Your Grief presentations  held in Danvers and Worcester* aim to help participants better understand suicide and the grief that may happen when a suicide occurs.  Presentations are led by licensed psychologist Jack Jordan, who has specialized in work with survivors of suicide loss and other traumatic losses for 40+ years.

Susie and Dave join the Samaritans family

W e welcomed two new Board members in October: Susie Korb and David Majenski! Susie (Director of Strategic Finance at Toast, Inc.) and Dave (Chief of Police at Abington Police Department), each bring a unique and valuable skill set to the Samaritans team! We look forward to working with them both to enhance our programs and services! Learn more about them in our new blog.
Clinician training in suicide bereavement

Suicide loss survivors often need a level of support that goes beyond traditional grief counseling. Our upcoming Suicide Bereavement Clinician Training, held in partnership with Riverside Trauma Center, is  designed for mental health professionals who may provide grief therapy for suicide loss survivors. It will provide a focused overview of the impact of suicide on survivors, and the clinical and support responses needed after a suicide occurs.

Join us on Monday, December 9, 2019 at The Plymouth Church in Framingham for the training!

We were so impressed by the incredible applications we received for our Boston Marathon team this year! Our 12 chosen runners are an amazing bunch whose moving stories are a testament to the human spirit and resiliency. We welcomed several members of the team to our offices last month for a kickoff on their Marathon journey. Over the next five months, you'll hear all about our runners. W atch for them on Giving Tuesday, December 3, and  visit our Marathon page now to "meet" the team!
A big welcome to new classes of volunteers

We're so grateful for our partnership with the  Boston College  PULSE Program! Each year, we work with students in the program who are learning to forge a critical and compassionate perspective both on society and themselves. The group of volunteers (above) as well as our awesome October class (below) have joined our Helpline and soon will be answering calls and texts from people who are struggling. Thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers who donate their time and energy to our mission!
