We should not serve the poor like they were Jesus. We should serve the poor
because they are Jesus. - Mother Teresa
Alleluia! All faith flows from faith in the resurrection: "If Christ has not been raised, then empty is our preaching; empty, too, is your faith." (1 Cor 15:14)

Volunteers make a difference...

Gerald Munsell lives on the family homestead in Iosco Township that he was raised on. He married Beth in 1970 and they helped to raise 76 foster children. They two sons, one by birth and one by adoption.

What inspired you to start volunteering with LCCC? “I have always been a volunteer, whether it was Relay for Life, blood drives, or helping with church activities. I am especially active with LCCC since I had been on the Board of Directors for nine years. During that time I had discovered all the things LCCC is actively doing in the community. Once I retired from General Motors in 2015 I began volunteering more with LCCC.”

What volunteer role do you fill?  “Currently I provide transportation for people who need rides for doctor appointments, buying groceries, hair appointments, banking or just running errands. I also help with the Christmas baskets, both in stuffing and delivering the baskets to the needy. I also serve on the Fund Development committee for LCCC.”

What personal value do you get from the experience?  “It is said it's better to give then receive. I enjoy giving myself to the people that need help or assistance. Since I am retired it also gets me out of the house.”
The LCCA is proud to announce the release of their
2019 Mini-Grant Application!

LCCA is looking to fund applications that have youth-led, youth-driven projects that are innovative and creative. In the past we have funded activities like, The Dance Project, alternative Friday nights at The Connection Youth Services, and Kick Butts Day; which all focus on the prevention of youth substance use and helping youth to make positive choices.

Applications are due on May 24th, by 3:00pm either electronically or in person to Livingston Catholic Charities, 2020 E. Grand River, Suite 104, Howell. No faxed applications will be accepted.

Please contact Megan Palmer at LCCC at 517-545-5944 if you have any further questions.
Reality Check for Kids and Parents

On April 27, 2019 Reality Tour comes to Livingston County. The Reality Tour is an evidence-based prevention and intervention program that helps parents and youth start the conversation about drugs and alcohol. Skits performed by Pinckney High School students from the Students Leading Students program demonstrate in graphic detail the stark realities of substance abuse. These include the progression of addition, peer pressure, and scenarios ending in the user being arrested or overdosing.

In addiction to the dramatic presentation of choices made and consequences of a teen on drugs, the seminar also includes coping skills to use as a family and a Q & A with youth in recovery. Click HERE to register or learn more.
