Worship This Weekend
FCC Stained Glass

Continuing with our Giving It Up and Taking It On Lenten sermon series, Rev. Jim Warren will discuss John 5:1-9 as he explores "Giving Up Apathy and Taking on Compassion."  Hear him preach at both the 9:00 a.m. traditional and 10:15 a.m. progressive services.

The Chancel Choir will sing a Gift of Music at the 9:00 a.m. service, and the One and All Band will sing and play some favorites.  As always, a light breakfast will be served for the 10:15 One and All service.  Come a little early and enjoy a bite to eat, some hot coffee, and warm fellowship.

This Sunday is Blanket Sunday and a special offering will be taken.  We will have a short video about the work Church World Service does with the blankets, and one of our Reach Out Stewards, Julie Robinson, will share more about this mission effort during Children's Time.

About the current sermon series, Giving It Up and Taking It On: "Two of the traditional Lenten disciplines are giving up something we've been doing and taking on something new. I will encourage our congregation to engage in these two disciplines, but on a deeper level. I will invite individuals to give up and take on things that God wants us to give up and take on, not just during the 40 days of Lent, but forever. We'll look at giving up grudges, apathy, selfishness, fear, and death, and taking on forgiveness, compassion, generosity, trust, and life."    -- Jim Warren

Pulpit:  Jim Warren - John 5:1-9  "Giving Up Apathy and Taking on Compassion" - This story from John tells of a man who had been waiting for many years to be lowered into the pool of Bethzatha, but no one would help him. Jesus appears, shows compassion, and heals the man. How often do we turn a blind eye to the needs of those around us and not get involved. We need to turn from apathy to compassion and show mercy to those in need.
