Equal Exchange Products Entice Customers If you missed out on last Sunday's sale of our new shipment of Equal Exchange products, you have another chance this Sunday.  I will refer to the "C" word and encourage you to consider how much your friends, family members, neighbors, co-workers, and helpers would enjoy a gift bag containing chocolate bars, a bag of delicious coffee, a bottle of Palestinian olive oil, a can of hot cocoa mix, and/or one of our new Palestinian products..  Our new Palestinian products - Medjool Dates, Maftoul (whole wheat couscous), and Freekah (toasted green wheat) sold quickly on November 3 and will be re-ordered.  The next sale will be on Sunday, November 24.  Remember to let Lynn Wood know ASAP by email ([email protected]) if you wish to be included in the next order for the new Palestinian products:  Medjool dates ($12 a box), Maftoul (whole wheat couscous - $8.50 a bag), Freekah (toasted green wheat - $8.50 a bag), or the Farmers Box (containing Medjool dates, Maftoul, Freekah, and toasted almonds ($40 a box, great unique gift idea).

November is Shepherd's Table Month!  - Debbie Beebe is Good Shepherd's coordinator of our outreach to Shepherd's Table.  She coordinates volunteers from Good Shepherd who help serve dinner at Shepherd's Table the first Friday of every month.  It is a wonderful hands-on opportunity for us to respond to the call of Jesus to "Feed the Hungry."  And, yes, Debbie is looking for new volunteers.  Is God whispering in your ear that this is the time for you to participate in this ministry?  Debbie has all the information you need.  November is Good Shepherd's month to answer the needs of our sisters and brothers in Christ who are experiencing homelessness and, thus, have an extra need to keep warm as colder weather arrives.  New store-bought and/or handmade heavy gloves, knitted hats, scarves, and heavy socks fit the bill.  As showering facilities are offered at Shepherd's Table, what better than new underwear (for men and women) when one has finished.  Debbie has placed a bin at the back of church.  Let's fill it to overflowing between now and November 24, the Sunday before Thanksgiving, and make Debbie happy.

Saint Luke Food Pantry -  Yes, indeed, food and feeding are a key outreach goal at Good Shepherd.  We support the work of Saint Luke Food Pantry in its longtime ministry of responding to the needs for primary and secondary nutritional needs in our community.  Those individuals and families who access their resources are referred by social services agencies.  Volunteers at Saint Luke have a system for filling bags with an assortment of nutritious staples provided to them by individuals and faith communities, such as Good Shepherd.  Cans, bags, boxes, jars, tubes.  Staples come in a variety of containers.  Protein (chicken and tuna), vegetables, fruit, pasta and sauce, rice, cereals, PB&J, hearty soups, pasta meals, and chili, beans (black, kidney, garbanzo) - all go out as soon as they come in.  Guaranteed to enhance your grocery shopping experience!
