COVID-19 and your Golf Business
Bulletin #9 - April 8, 2020
During today's press conference, Prime Minister Trudeau announced changes to the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy Program and the Canada Summer Jobs Program for employers.
Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy - UPDATES
  • Businesses will now only need to show a 15% reduction in gross revenues for the month of March.

  • April and May still require a 30% reduction in gross revenues to qualify.

  • Businesses now have the option to use accrual or cash accounting to demonstrate decline in gross revenues. NOTE: once you choose an accounting method, you will have to use the same method for each claiming period you are applying for.

  • Businesses now have two options for comparing gross revenues to qualify for the subsidy:
Option 1: you can compare gross revenues for the month you wish to receive the subsidy with the average of gross revenue from January and February 2020.

Option 2: you can choose to compare gross revenues for the month you wish to receive the subsidy with the same month last year.
NOTE: Whichever option you choose for your initial claiming period, you will have to keep using that same option for all claiming periods.

There will be further announcements on this initiative to come. The NGCOA Canada will continue to watch for new information and details and will be seeking clarity on what all of this means to the golf business. We will share any new information with you as soon as it is received.
