HUDSON VALLEY VISION AWARD

HYDE PARK, NY -- On Saturday, June 29, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum and the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site present the  4th annual FAMILY FUN FESTIVAL on the Library's Great Lawn and gardens and grounds of the Home. Activities include a raptor show, performances by the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus, an iHeartMedia live radio broadcast, music with Bossy Frog, "Creatures in the Garden," cider pressing, tinsmithing, a Dutchess County Sheriff's K9 unit demonstration, Hyde Park Fire Department vehicles and displays, artifacts on display, face painting, balloon animals, Discovery Packs (NPS), a petting zoo and food trucks.  The festival is a free, public event through the support of the Roosevelt Library Trustees, community partners and sponsors.  The Museum (including the new D-Day exhibition) will offer free admission all day on June 29, 2018.

At the center of the festival, the Library and Museum will present the  FRANKLIN AND ELEANOR ROOSEVELT HUDSON VALLEY VISION AWARD to Hyde Park World War II veteran Ralph Osterhoudt -- at 12:15 p.m. on the Library's Great Lawn.

Additional offerings -- for attendees of all abilities -- include sensory sensitive museum time, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. (with low lighting and low volume on audiovisual programs) and "Quiet Spaces" throughout the day in the Henry A. Wallace Visitor Center -- in partnership with Dutchess County's ThinkDIFFERENTLY initiative and the Friends of the Poughkeepsie Public Library District (with books for attendees of all ages, charging stations, silent films and an opportunity for attendees to relax and recharge).

FAMILY FUN FESTIVAL sponsors include Health Quest, Bellefield at Historic Hyde Park (T-Rex Capital Group, LLC), Marist College, Seven Bridges Wealth Advisors, Dutchess Community College, and Steve and Amy Effron; as well as Library Trustees Eileen Simmons, Mary Moran, Nancy Roosevelt Ireland and Lynn Bassanese; with additional support from Hyde Park Fire Department, Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, Hyde Park Brewing Company, AT&T, iHeartMedia, Friends of the Poughkeepsie Public Library District, Durants Party Rentals and Starbucks.

Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum

The National Park Service  administers the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Sites in Hyde Park, New York.
