UMCE EVERKIDS EASTER EGG HUNT!
Sunday, April 21 at 9:30 am
|
Join us Easter Morning, April 21, for our annual EverKids Easter Egg Hunt! We will meet at 9:30AM on the church playground (weather permitting), or in the church basement, if there is snow. Children of all ages are welcome to participate, and the UMCE Youth Group will chaperone the event, and help the smaller EverKids find the eggs. EverKids should bring baskets and come ready to have a great time!

Joining by profession of faith. He's a civil trial attorney who enjoys being outdoors. She is a homemaker who enjoys cooking. She's trained as an esthetician. They have a daughter Vivian, 3 yrs old & is in Great Escape. They enjoy doing things with family and moved back to area from California recently. She grew up in Memphis. He moved about as his father was in the Air Force before attending high school and having his early career in Florida.
Robert & Linda Bates
Joining by transfer from Columbine United Church in Littleton. He is a regional training manager for Chrysler-Fiat covering several states. She is a sonographer doing specialized sonograms at Porter Hospital. They enjoy being with family, camping, hiking, fishing and hunting. The guys enjoy working on cars. Son Hunter is in kindergarten & daughter Violet is 3. They grew up in New Mexico and moved to the Denver area after college.
Paul & Simonne Burke
Joining by transfer from Highlands UMC, Denver. They own a restaurant in the Highlands area and recently moved to Evergreen. Their girls are Eleanor Beatrice "Ellie" 7 months & Madison Frances 3 yrs. They enjoy hiking and being outdoors. Paul was born and raised here in Genesee & Simonne was raised in New York and moved out to the area 11 years ago.

Instructions for Using King Soopers Rewards
|
Many of you have been using the re-loadable gift cards at King Soopers and Safeway from which we accrue 5% of your grocery and gas purchases.
As of April 1, King Soopers has simplified their rewards program. You will no longer need to reload the gift cards. Your card is still valid, but once you get to a zero balance, reloading it will not benefit us.
King Soopers will be calculating the 5% rewards based on customers' use of their
regular rewards card (this is the card you scan to get your in-store discounts; you may also put in your phone number instead).
In order for the United Methodist Church (UMC) of Evergreen to be the recipient of 5% of your spending on gas and groceries, you need to designate us as your preferred organization. Just follow the detailed instructions below.
If you don't have a computer or need help setting up your account, please let the church know and we will help you.
HOW TO UPDATE YOUR KING SOOPERS ACCOUNT
Once you complete this process, each time you use your rewards card King Soopers will donate 5% of your purchase amount to UMC Evergreen.
No more reloading gift cards each time you shop!
Register at the King Soopers website, www.kingsooperscommunityrewards.com
Step 1: Create an online account
(if you already have an online account, skip to Step 2)
- Scroll down and select "Create an Account"
- Under Sign-in information, enter your email and create a password
- Sign in
- Select "Use Card Number"
- Enter your King Soopers Rewards Card number or your alternate ID (usually a phone number), then enter your last name and zip code
- Under Select your Preferred Store, enter your zip code
- Select "Find Store" and choose your store
- Select "Create Account"
- Continue to step 2 to designate UMC Evergreen as your preferred charitable organization
Step 2: Link your Rewards Card to UMC Evergreen
- On top right, hover over the carat and click on "Sign in" or if you are still logged in click on the image of a person
- Once signed in, Select "My Account" from the drop down menu
- Under Account Summary, scroll down and click on "Community Rewards"
- Under "Find an Organization" enter our code HV438 or our name and click "Search"
- UMC Evergreen will show up - click on "Enroll"

HOLY LAND TOUR - FREE LUNCH AND A SHOW!

Visit the Mediterranean through sights, sounds and tastes of Israel and Egypt. Follow in Jesus' footsteps as fellow church members share photos and experiences of their recent travels to the Holy Land with our Bishop. A typical Mediterranean lunch will be provided by the travelers along with talented chef, Clyde Sacks.
Rev. Joyce Snapp, Bob and Ann Gerteis, and Jim and Marlene Waltz went on the tour with Mountain Sky Conference Methodists and Bishop Karen Oliveto. Nancy and Mac DeGuire and Terry and JoAnn Vogt went on separate tours and have generously shared some favorite photos.

The Evergreen UMC supports the Food Banks at two local organizations: Evergreen Christian Outreach and Mountain Resource Center. Baskets are passed during the services on the second Sunday of each month with paper slips of suggested items to bring to our Giving Place in Fellowship Hall. This past week 163 lbs. of food was delivered to EChO!!

ECHO'S SPRING FUNDRAISER
"AN EVENING IN THE VINEYARD"
Friday, April 26th from 6:00-10:00 pm

Help support the Evergreen Shelter Program and Evergreen Christian Outreach (EChO) while having a fun night out! Your support will provide services for families and individuals in need, and most of all help EChO fulfill its mission which is to assist people in our community with their basic and urgent needs and to help them realize their potential on a path to self-sufficiency. Attendees will enjoy tasting wines from multiple wineries including Napa Valley while enjoying music provided by Joe Bye.
One of EchO's
shelter guests will even be sharing his success story! A wine pull and silent auction, which will include a premium silent auction, will round out the cocktail hour, followed by a delicious sit-down dinner catered by Fresh Tracks. The evening will include a paddle raiser and conclude with music for dancing. Please register by April 15th by using the following link:

A CALL TO ACTION: FIGHT CHILD TRAFFICKING
Saturday, April 27 from 9:30 - 2:00 pm

Encourage adults and youth you care about to attend "A Call to Action: Fight Child Trafficking" on Sat. April 27 at UMCE. Don't miss this opportunity to hear Dr. Jeff Brodsky speak passionately and authentically about his experiences rescuing young victims of sex trafficking. The adult program will be 9:30 - 11:30 am; he will speak to Middle and High School youth from noon - 2pm. Refreshments will be provided. Come and be informed about this outrage worldwide, and how each one of us can make a lifesaving difference to "the least of these". Questions? MISSIONS CLOTHING DRIVE FOR THE TENNYSON
CENTER FOR CHILDREN
Sunday, April 28th before and after services
|
Tennyson Center for Children is a residential treatment center and K-12 school for emotionally and crisis-affected children and youth, particularly those who have suffered from abuse and neglect. It serves children ranging in age from 5-18 and states as its mission: "We are dedicated to ensuring that these amazing kids have the fighting chance they deserve at a satisfying and fulfilling life." Many children come to Tennyson Center wearing clothes that are torn, tattered and one or two sizes too small. To ensure that every child has clothes that fit, Tennyson Center accepts donations of new clothing in its Dress a Child program.
Our shopping expert, Katie Zapotoczny, will purchase a variety of new clothing for this drive (used clothing is not accepted). You can support this program by donating to cover the cost of these clothes purchased for the Tennyson Center's resident children. The clothes that Missions has purchased will be displayed and available for "sponsorship" on April 28th in the Fellowship Hall, before and after services. Please consider supporting this effort! Easter Sunday - Just As He Said
He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. - Matthew 28:6
One thing Easter teaches us it that Jesus keeps his promises. When the women go to the tomb on Easter morning Matthew tells us they were greeted by angels who said that Jesus had risen "just as he said." Jesus's words can be trusted. We see this most profoundly as we celebrate Easter.
The resurrection assures us that Christ's words will come to pass. When the risen Jesus says, "Peace be with you," we know that we will receive peace from him. When the risen Jesus says, "Do not be afraid," we know that we have no reason to fear. And when the risen Jesus says, "I will be with you always," we know that he will be by our side forever. Easter reveals to us that we can constantly count on Christ's words.
Lord Jesus, you are risen; you are risen indeed. We rejoice in all that you have revealed to us as we prepare to celebrate a glorious Easter resurrection. May your revelations continue to enlighten us in the days to come as we seek to keep learning more about you. Alleluia! Amen.
