Help Us Light Up Waterdown Village
for the Holidays
Matching Funds Grant for BIA Properties

Why
Community beautification, including seasonal streetscaping, is one of the four main pillars of the BIA’s mandate. Vibrant streets welcome people and drive foot traffic to our commercial area, especially during the busy winter holiday season.

That's why the BIA installs holiday planters and banners as well as LED snowflakes on lampposts on Dundas and Hamilton Street. And lights at Memorial Hall, Memorial Park, and the John Street Parkette. We want to add even more brilliance to the Village.

2021 Village Holiday Lighting Program
The BIA will assist with expenses for holiday lighting for interested BIA property owners as follows:

  • 50% subsidy for street-facing lighting projects up to a maximum of $1,000 per location
  • Subsidy can be applied to roof line lighting, lit wreaths, tree forms, or tree trunk/canopy lighting
  • Program participants must use the BIA approved supplier (this year, it is Christmas Décor by Skeddadle) and follow the pre-approved lighting palette (warm white lights)

Subsidies will be offered on a first come, first serve basis while funds last.

About BIA Lighting Supplier
Lights installed by Christmas Décor are owned by the Skedaddle. The service provider is responsible for supplying, installing, removing and storing the lights. They have certified and insured installers as well as the equipment (ladders, scissor lift, etc.) to safely reach and install in hard-to-reach places.

Lighting costs varying based on roof height, accessibility and other factors. Estimates would need to be confirmed for each location by Christmas Décor following a site visit. The following is an approximate price guideline:

  • Tree forms, 6ft to 15 ft tall $650 – $825*
  • Roofline Lights $5.50 - $6.75/linear foot*
  • Lit wreaths, 3ft to 4 ft $450 - $570*

*The BIA pays half of this cost up to a maximum of $1,000

Lights are usually installed middle of November.
