Dear Church Family,
May the peace of God be with you.
In reflecting upon the last several months it has become apparent that God is with us. This scripture comes to mind, 2 Corinthians 5:16-18, “So from now on, we do not think about what people are like by looking at them. We even thought about Christ that way one time. But we do not think of Him that way anymore. For if a man belongs to Christ, he is a new person. The old life is gone. New life has begun. All this comes from God. He is the One Who brought us to Himself when we hated Him. He did this through Christ. Then He gave us the work of bringing others to Him.”
What God is saying to us through Paul is that as people of the church our way of thinking will or must change. This change means we look at all that is going on in our lives and think about them from God’s perspective not our own. Also, we have this fact that in Christ we have been made new, the old self is gone. We have new life, a new beginning.
As we are learning how to do church differently I would like to update you on the progress with the new building, our
New Beginning
.
The Waterville Planning Commission approved it unanimously on July 6th and sent to the City Council. As of Monday night the City Council had the first reading of three to approve the Special Use Permit for our property. The final reading with input from the public will be on September 14th.
The builder, Weaver Commercial Contractor, is reviewing bids now. Our plan is to meet with them next week to over the numbers so that we have a final budget.
Work has begun on meeting with the Maumee Watershed District Committee on Location and Building (MWDCLB). The hope is that this meeting happens before September 14th for approval. This approval would be contingent upon the City Council approving the Special Use Permit.
After the approval by the MWDCLB we must hold a Special Church Conference to approve the signing of contracts to begin construction. The date for this meeting will be determined after consulting with our District Superintendent and Chairperson of the MWDCLB.
Please continue to pray for our
New Beginning
and watch for updates.
