Summer 2019 Newsletter
BUILDING TRUST
Our summer newsletter is focused on the subject of trust. Trust is what we do every day when we ride. We trust our horses every time we put our foot in the stirrup, negotiate a course or a pattern or a test.  From the moment we ride a new mount we work on establishing a relationship with our horse, and our best moments are realized when we both trust each other.

The same principals are applied when doing business with someone. A recent article that I read in an insurance journal stated that most people would rather buy from an agent whom they completely trusted than one who gave them a lower price.

At EMO, we take pride in providing our clients with honest and complete answers to their questions and doing what's right for the client rather than making the sale. We listen, try to understand clients' needs and work to solve any potential problems that they may have. We work at building trust and realize that those relationships take time and are built by repeated positive interactions.

Thank you for trusting EMO with your insurance needs...we appreciate your loyalty!

EMO Ride with the leaders!

NEWS UPDATE

The Season for Lyme Disease

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection primarily transmitted by Ixodes ticks, also known as deer ticks, and on the West Coast, black-legged ticks. These tiny arachnids are typically found in wooded and grassy areas. Although people may think of Lyme as an East Coast disease, it's found throughout the United States, as well as in more than 60 other countries.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimate that 300,000 people are diagnosed with Lyme disease in the United States every year. Because diagnosing Lyme can be difficult, however, many people who actually have Lyme may be misdiagnosed with other conditions. Many experts believe the true number of cases is much higher.

Lyme disease affects people of all ages, as well as pets and horses.

The CDC notes that it's most common in children, older adults, and others such as firefighters and park rangers who spend time in outdoor activities and have higher exposure to ticks.

INSURANCE TIPS
OUR TRUSTED RELATIONSHIPS
It used to be that brand loyalty was a given--you grew up in a family that drove Chevrolet trucks, so you chose that brand when you purchased your first tow vehicle. Your household drank Pepsi products, so you naturally packed the refrigerator with those soft drinks when you moved into your first apartment.

Over time, you develop a loyalty and a confidence in a brand. Why? Maybe it's because you trust that when you purchase a Silverado that it won't leave you and your horses stranded on the side of the road. And, in the end, you did get a great vehicle that didn't let you down and a service department that kept it in peak form.

Similarly, when we consider equine, farm and liability insurance, our choices are many--maybe not as many companies as there are vehicle brands, but we have a wide array from which to choose.

Here at EMO, we underwrite through A+ rated insurance companies with underwriters licensed to do business in all 50 states--a designation we've established after 35 years in business. We take brand loyalty seriously, and trust is at the heart of our mission through the definitions that define us:

Integrity: t he quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness.

Commitment: t he state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc.

Dependability: the quality of being trustworthy and reliable.

But how do you define trust? It's a bit trickier, but research has found that most people don't necessarily define trust in words but instead through feel. Do I feel this person has my best interest at heart? Is this person an advocate for me?

"We hope that when you consider your EMO insurance agent, you'll feel as if this person is your friend and ally," said EMO's E. Sue Bopp. "We are 'horsemen helping horsemen,' and a group of horse people who ride, compete, fox hunt and understand horses and the equine industry.

"Many EMO clients have been with the company for decades, and they know when they call their agent the phone will be answered or the message returned promptly," added Bopp. "The relationships we build with our clients often become friendships. We know your horse's names and cheer you on at shows and events. It's actually these relationships that make our work at EMO so rewarding--and we love what we do because of you."

Trust is timeless but takes time to build. Ride with EMO, and you ride with the leaders!
CLIENT SPOTLIGHT
- Lisa Petersen-Trujillo and Outspoken -
Lisa Petersen-Trujillo, of Reno, Nevada, started her riding journey with Maplewood Stables when she was in middle school. She left Maplewood to attend college, and during her time away from equestrian sport she ended up competing in triathlons, marathons, cycling and ultra running.

During her professional career in the HR Talent Acquisition Management field, Lisa has worked from high-tech companies to property and casualty insurance, and now in the hospitality resort industry.

It was on a few occasions when Lisa was cycling throughout some of the beautiful countrysides around the United States when she stopped at one particular field with horses grazing and knew it was time to ride again.

Lisa returned to Maplewood, which was her "old homestead in learning how to ride." It was there that she found her beautiful equine partner, Outspoken. Now, Lisa and "Bonita" compete in the adult hunter and equitation sections at shows in Nevada and California.

"I wanted to have not only the best insurance coverage for my mare, but I wanted a company that had a long-standing track record in the equine industry," said Lisa. " I have contacted the EMO Agency a few times, and not only do they provide excellent customer service but they also offer a variety of plans to protect your horse and you.

"Whether I'm training in the arena, riding on trails or showing, there's nothing like this special bond with my horse, companionship, trust, strength, courage, and most of all, love," she said.
