COVID-19: What Employers Need to Know Heading into 2021  

New Free Webinar on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 3-4 p.m. ET

  • Donald Rineer will provide an update on Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans, including forgiveness, tax issues, and a new round of loans in the COVID-19 Relief Bill.
  • Amy Mitchell will clarify the changing requirements for leave (paid and unpaid) for COVID-19, review the extended unemployment benefits available to employees, and discuss the updated EEOC Guidance on COVID-19, including mandatory vaccine policies. 
  • Abbie White will review OSHA's enforcement activity (to date) concerning COVID-19 related issues, cover the basic steps that contractors should be taking to protect employees in the field, and address the enforcement of COVID-19 safety policies in the field.

With a new, fresh look, IEAP is a two-day virtual course that teaches students how to determine the optimal insulation thickness and corresponding energy and dollar savings for a project. NIA recommends the use of Certified Insulation Inspectors and requests that members add suggested language to their product guideline specifications or installation guidelines. OSHA Update: Form 300A Data Due by Mar. 2 and COVID-19 Resources

Form 300A Data
OSHA reminds employers that the agency will begin collecting calendar year 2020 Form 300A data on Jan. 2, 2021. Employers must submit the form electronically by Mar. 2, 2021. Electronic submissions are required by establishments with 250 or more employees currently required to keep OSHA injury and illness records, and establishments with 20-249 employees classified in specific industries. Visit the Injury Tracking Application Electronic Submission of Injury and Illness Records to OSHA for more information and a link to the Injury Tracking Application.

IEAP Certification Expiration for Appraisers: Renew by Jan. 31

If you became a Certified Insulation Energy Appraiser or were recertified in 2017 and have not yet recertified, your certification expired on Dec. 31, 2020. The renewal deadline has been extended to Jan. 31, 2021, for you to renew your certification.

NIA sent recertification instructions in mid-September with details on how to take the short exam or submit details on a completed appraisal. Please visit the IEAP Recertification page on NIA's website or email [email protected] for more information.

NIA's 65th Annual Convention will be held in person at the MGM National Harbor, located just outside of Washington, DC, on Oct. 26-28, 2021. We can't wait to see you, so please save the date for this event and look for registration information very soon!
