Dear Friend of the Arts,

As winter approaches, the arts are lighting up communities across Vermont.

Waterbury glows with creativity each December when the River of Light parade, now in its 10th year, illuminates the night with handmade paper lanterns.

In times of darkness, we know that art can be healing.

In North Bennington, textile artists create art with young women at a residential treatment center for victims of domestic abuse.

At Norwich University, veterans coping with trauma explore themes of war and homecoming in Shakespeare's work.

A portrait series at the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center last winter highlighted the tenacity, pain, and courage of people in recovery from addiction.

Today, I'm asking for your help so that the Vermont Arts Council can continue to support important programs like these. Art and creativity are vital to Vermont's future, building healthy and resilient communities, and connecting us more deeply to each other.

Please donate today to help us ensure that all Vermonters have access to the light and inspiration of the arts for many years to come.

With thanks,
