Hi Everyone...Killiney Beach Park is looking good! RDCO Parks staff were out this week painting the bathroom interiors, putting in the swim grid and placing the floating docks; we now have two. The original floating dock will have more added to it when the other section is repaired. The paving at the south end and turn around area at the north end was completed on Friday. The contractor will be back soon to backfill along the pavement edge to protect it from breakdown. The fire boathouse site has been designated as a dog friendly beach site - “Bowser Beach” signage and pick up bags will be in place shortly. There are a few improvements left to do on the beach including boat launch repair. (Video courtesy of Wayne Carson)

The Fintry Access #1 Dock is scheduled for rebuild at the end of June. Due to environmental restrictions (Kokanee spawning area) the Fintry dock could not be done at the same time as the Killiney dock. Once the Fintry dock is complete the RDCO will be opening the boat launch. Cabin Forestry, builder of the Killiney dock, has been contracted for the Fintry dock.

Message from Girl Guide Leader, Candace Campbell

The Girl Guides attended a Horse Adventure day camp June 1st. We did some fundraising through cookie selling for this special year end event.

As part of our efforts we challenged the community to sponsor a case of cookies (12 boxes = $60) which we would then deliver to different local organizations/groups.

Shayne Watson of Watson Bros. Excavating  stepped forward first and sponsored 6 cases! These cases went to: Westside Soccer Team, Killiney Beach Seniors Association, North Westside Fellowship Church, Moms and Muffins, Killiney Beach Library & North Westside Fire Rescue

Su Casa Landscaping  sponsored a case that went to the Vernon RCMP

Mr. Winter Services  sponsored a case that went to a Vernon retirement home

Thank you to all for supporting our local community and thank you to all the groups here that make our community so great!

**Thanks Candace for the case of cookies that you have donated each year to the NWCA Board of Directors.
Chris & Candace Campbell at the NWCA 50's Theme Fundraiser
On behalf of the NWCA Board of Directors I would like to thank Chris & Candace Campbell for their outstanding service & dedication to our community. Candace initiated and has led the Killiney Beach Girl Guides for the past three years. The Girl Guides have just finished for the season and unless someone takes on the leadership role there will be no Killiney Beach Girl Guides.

Chris & Candace have opened their home and welcomed the community to enjoy their awesome Halloween Haunted House every year for the past four years. As well, they have both served on the NWCA Board.

Sadly, their home is now for sale as they are planning a move to Grand Forks to be near family. Chris & Candace have been going through the adoption process for the last two years and Candace told me today that they have recently been approved and are about to adopt a little, almost 4 year old boy named Donovan. They will soon be meeting Donovan and the adoption is scheduled to proceed in August. So happy for you!

We share in your joy for the beginning of your new family life and wish you all the best in your future endeavours. You will be greatly missed by many. Have a good life!

RDCO NEWS RELEASE
Stage 2 Outdoor Water Restrictions Return

This Sunday, June 16th, sees the annual return to twice weekly outdoor water restrictions for the six water systems operated by the Regional District of Central Okanagan.

From June 16 th  until September 15 th  each year unless otherwise noted, Stage 2 water restrictions are in place for the Star Place, Falcon Ridge, Killiney Beach, Sunset Ranch, Upper Fintry-Shalal Road-Valley of the Sun and Westshore water systems.

Stage 2 means if needed, outdoor watering is restricted on those six systems to two days each week. RDCO water customers with even number addresses may water outdoors on Saturday and Tuesday while those with odd addresses may only irrigate outside on Sunday and Wednesday. Communications Officer Bruce Smith says, “If you don’t need to water gardens and lawns on your allotted day and time period, please don’t waste water. By following the outdoor watering restrictions, residents will help ensure that system reservoirs are replenished and there’s an adequate water supply for everyone.”

The  Regional District Water Systems Regulations Bylaw No. 1370  also outlines the hours for automated and manual outdoor irrigation.  Customers with automated sprinklers should only water  between midnight and 6:00 am  on their designated day, while those with manual outdoor irrigation must restrict their watering to  between 6:00 am and 11:00 am  and  6:00 pm  and midnight on their respective irrigation day.

The rest of the year, between September 16 th  and June 15 th  – Stage 1 Restrictions are in place allowing customers to water outdoors on alternating days based on their odd or even street address number.

For more tips on water conservation inside and outside your home, visit the Regional District Water System webpage at  regionaldistrict.com/water . Customers may also sign up there to receive email notifications of any water advisories or special maintenance works affecting their water system.

Starting July 1 st  new User Fees and Asset Renewal Fees will begin for all six RDCO water systems. A Water Rate Estimator Tool is available for customers to check the impact of the new rates at  www.regionaldistrict.com/WaterRates .

The Regional District water systems provide service to just over 1,000 connections in the six water system areas.
