TO BRIGHTEN YOUR DAY
A DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT by Marilyn Bennett
A New Year Prayer

Most Holy and Awesome God, Your heavens declare Your glory. You alone deserve our worship, our love, and our praise.

You, O Lord, allowed this pandemic. Yet you allowed us to thrive. May we fall at Your feet in grateful worship. Help us to lovingly care for all you have created and be respectful of all human life from conception. As we worship You, we acknowledge that You alone are God.

Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; the world and those who dwell in it!
Let the rivers clap their hands; let the hills SING FOR JOY together.
Psalm 98.7-8

O, Lord, there is much we do not understand and will never understand. Help us to trust in you. Fill us with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and understanding, so we may walk in a manner worthy of You, Lord.

May we please You: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in our knowledge of you. Strengthen us with your power, according to Your glorious might. Help us be steadfast and patient. May we always joyously give thanks to You, our Father and Lord, for giving us the privilege of sharing in the inheritance of the saints. You Lord are our light and our salvation.

Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world.
Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” John 8.12

O, God, may we honor and love You with all our heart, soul, and mind. Almighty God, may we be productive in our daily walk with You. Give us hope during this extremely difficult time.

Bless all those who love you, Lord. May we know that we are blessed. We know You are with the less fortunate, Lord. May we be good stewards of the gifts you have given us by sharing with those in need. When we are in need may we learn to be more empathetic to the needs of others.

In Jesus name, Amen.
