"If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself"
It's fall, y'all! As always, so many things are going on at Urban Triage and we can't wait to share everything with you, Co-Conspirator!

Keep reading for information about our Rental Support Program, our latest events, and our second office space!
Hello readers! We hope that you're having an excellent start to your fall season, and thank you for taking the time to read our newsletter. I am Sharmecia Brown, the Program Manager for our Rental Support Program.

As we launch our Rental Support Program, I would like to thank everyone for their patience, support, and upliftment. We're up and running, assisting residents of Dane County outside the City of Madison. Our Customer Care Center runs Monday Thur Thursday starting at 7:30 AM. We also provide in-person support. See the link below for more information. Your dedication and commitment to our vision as an organization made all of this possible, and we cannot thank you enough.

As a result, our services and the number of people we serve have increased exponentially—making it even more imperative that your support continues. To get the word out of our expansion of services-we've expanded our marketing efforts to promote our services to families needing rental support; we've partnered with 6 AM Marketing to create our first promotional video. Just a few months ago, we filmed videos in our office and edited them ourselves, and now look at us, we had an entire production team complete with hair and makeup! It was an incredible experience and proves how much our organization has grown.

Our organization is For the People, By the People, and we're here to show you that you can change the rules and your life. By providing dynamic, stigma-free, humanity-centered services, we can meet people where they are and provide the support they need. Our rental support program is historic and continues to humble and inspire us every day. We're just getting started, and there's much more to be done, so keep reading and join us on the frontlines – by donating and becoming a volunteer.
In collaboration with Dane County Human Services, we are proud to announce the launch of our Rental Support Program as a part of the Dane County CORE 2.0 collaboration with the City of Madison, Community Action Coalition (CAC), and Tenant Resource Center (TRC).

Our staff and volunteer members are excited to provide exceptional customer service to our community members through the stigma-free call center and in-person hours for residents outside the City of Madison.

If you currently live outside of the City of Madison and need support paying your rent, do not hesitate to click the link below to learn more and apply today. We are offering support with forward rent, rental arrears, security deposits, and utilities. At Urban Triage, when we say chair – chair falls (if you’re not sure what that means, sign up for our workgroups!). Everything that we've spoken into existence has come to life. We're committed to embodying the vision of our organization, and look where it has taken us this time.

We are so thankful, proud, and excited to announce that we are officially taking up space in Downtown Madison! Yes, that’s right – in less than 20 months we have opened a second office space. This office will be the new home to our administrative team, interns, and volunteers.

We revealed our second office to our CEO and community members last week, enjoyed light snacks, and shared our plans for the future with our Co-Conspirators and supporters. We would like to give a massive shoutout to Tatiana Dennis for putting her heart into designing our new space and bringing it to life. Our new space perfectly represents the mission, vision, and heart of Urban Triage, and we’re so humbled to have the ability to support our community from two locations. If you’d like to see the reveal of our new office or donate to support us while we settle in, click below!
Our Supporting Healthy Black Families Workgroup (SHBF) is on and poppin! For the first time ever, we’ve gone global! We have participants committed to our transformative education from Kenya, Brazil, and Canada. This is a huge milestone for Urban Triage, since the beginning, our CEO has envisioned our Supporting Healthy Black Families Workgroup going global, and here we are not even two years later, breaking borders in the name of personal change. If you are familiar with our SHBF Workgroup, you know that to get what you want out of life, you must speak it, act it, and be it – and that is precisely what we’re doing over here!

Additionally, this is the largest cohort we’ve had to date, with over 30 participants! With a more significant number of participants, we can expand our community, connections, and discussions to change the narrative together and heal from the past traumas of white supremacy racism.

We’re accepting donations to our SHBF workgroup to fund supplies, materials, and stipends for our current and future participants. If you’d like to donate or learn more about our longest-standing workgroup, click below!
Our Co-Conspirators continuously show up and show out for Urban Triage, and we are overwhelmed by their eagerness and dedication to supporting us in fulfilling our mission. Last week, we hosted our first cultivation event, "Get to Know Urban Triage," at Sage and Elise's beautiful home. The opportunity to inform and enroll new participants into our workgroup is imperative to continue inspiring and educating community members into action in defense of Black Lives.

We are now accepting applications for our next Co-Conspirators workgroup, which starts October 28th, 2021. If you're ready to explore and uncover hidden biases and gain the skills to analyze the way you've been conditioned to think, know, and act – this is the place for you. Our workgroup is a safe community where you have the freedom and opportunity to learn, grow, and express yourself without judgment. Check out what one of the members of our workgroup shared about their experience.

"This class connects me in ways that help me with stress, relationships, showing up, being real, and being present. I realized that my thoughts about my abilities were rooted in past experiences. I learned to identify my feedback loop that keeps me trapped in survival mode. This workgroup is rooted in humanity. First, I had to learn to detach from white supremacy attributes. It was uncomfortable and life-changing all at the same time" -M.C. Cohort 2

If you're ready to dive in and commit to a new way of being, we're inviting you to join us. Come as you are, and learn a new way of being with Urban Triage. We're excited to have you on the frontlines with us, so click the link below to sign up today.
Our first ever movie night was a huge success. We headed to Penn Park with our community a few weeks ago to enjoy one of the last warm nights! Thanks to the City of Madison for bringing out an LED screen to watch the movie “Soul” in the park. We had a fantastic time popping popcorn, eating snacks, giving out 104 gift bags & dinners. We also raffled off over $1000 in Visa Gift Cards!

We’re excited to continue spending time with the youth of our community in other areas of our work. If you’d like to donate or volunteer to support us in having even more youth events, click below!
We're starring in our first documentary! Economist Films headed over to our office on Park Street to film and interview our CEO.

The film company is recording a documentary for the Economist Newspaper based in Europe! Their next film will focus on how we can end racial injustice and is highlighting organizations that are improving race relations in education, criminal justice, and the economy.

We can't wait to be on the big screen again, and we're so excited to share the final film with you, so stay tuned!
