American Education Week presents us with the opportunity to celebrate public education and honor individuals who are making a difference in ensuring that every child receives a quality education. Wilson schools are hosting classroom visitation days for parents/guardians/ families:
- Cornwall Terrace Elementary - Wednesday, November 20 (visit the website for designated times by grade level)
- Green Valley Elementary - Tuesday, November 19
- Shiloh Hills Elementary -Thursday, November 21
- Spring Ridge Elementary - Tuesday, November 19
- Whitfield Elementary - Tuesday, November 19
- Southern Middle School - Wednesday, November 20
- West Middle School has various activities planned throughout the week.

Anticipated School Board Vacancy

The Wilson Board of Directors is anticipating an opening for one School Director to serve until December, 2021, resulting from the recent election and board reorganization. Applicant must be a resident of the Wilson School District for at least one year prior to the date of appointment and at least 18 years of age and available to assume this position in December, 2019. Interested residents, please respond with a letter explaining your interest and a copy of your resume to Dr. Richard Faidley, Superintendent, at fairic@wilsonsd.org, by Monday, November 25, 2019.

Report Cards/Progress Reports Now Available

Secondary report cards are currently visible through the Skyward Family Access “Portfolio” tab for secondary students, and elementary progress reports will be visible on Tuesday, November 19 at 4 pm. If you have any questions about Skyward Family Access, please contact your building secretary.

Important November Dates!
|
|
The Wilson School District will be following an altered schedule the week beginning November 25.
All students will have an early dismissal on Monday, November 25, and Tuesday, November 26.
Secondary students (Grades 6-12) will be dismissed at 11:00 am. Elementary students (Grades K-5) will be dismissed at 11:45 am.
There will be NO school for students from Wednesday, November 27, through Monday, December 2, in honor of the Thanksgiving holiday. Classes will resume on Tuesday, December 3.

Nominees Sought for Wilson Distinguished Alumni
|
|
We are currently accepting applications for Wilson's Distinguished Alumni. Nominees must have graduated from Wilson High School at least 15 years prior to nomination, and have consistently demonstrated, both personally and professionally, excellence of academic endeavors, career experiences, and/or local, state, or national community service.
All applications will be reviewed by a committee. Selected Distinguished Alumni will be recognized during the National Honor Society Induction Ceremony. Green Valley Elementary is "All 4 Books!"

Green Valley is "All 4 Books!" This amazing community raised $3,840.72 through their Book Fair Coin Drive to purchase books for the Cops 'n' Kids program.
Officer Ramierez and Sargeant Shade visited the Book Fair and shopped for hundreds of books for kids in the City of Reading!

Middle School Teacher Receives National-Level Award
|
|
Wilson West Health and Physical Education Teacher, Kristen Hook, was recently chosen as the Society of Health and Physical Education Teachers (SHAPE) Eastern District Health Education Teacher of the Year.
Mrs. Hook will be honored at an awards ceremony and will be eligible to be named the SHAPE National Teacher of the Year. We are so proud of you!

Looking for a night out without the kids? Here’s your chance! On December 13, from 6-9:00 PM, bring your kids out for a night of fun, games, crafts, and more!
It is $15 for 1 child and $10 for every child after that.
All proceeds will go to Wilson Mini-Thon!
Drop off will be at the High School Auditorium entrance. A waiver must be completed and provided at the event.

Wilson Theater Company Bingo

The Wilson Theater Company presents their annual Bingo Fundraiser! The event will be held on November 24, from 1:00-4:00 pm, in the Wilson High School Lower House Cafeteria. It's $20 for 20 games of Bingo and tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance from a WTC Member.

Wilson Education Association to Host FREE Indoor Yard Sale
|
|
On Saturday, December 7, 2019 (8 am-11 am), the WEA will be hosting its 8
th
Annual Indoor Yard Sale at the Wilson High School Lower House Cafeteria. The snow date is December 8 (9 am-noon). This invitation is for adult residents of the Wilson School District community. All items are free. This yard sale is for members of the Wilson community who are in need of some extra help during the holiday season. The items available were generously donated by staff of the Wilson School District community. On behalf of the entire school district, we are pleased to, once again, be able to help residents during the holiday season!

Top Dog Turkey Trot-- Thanksgiving Morning 4K!

Come out and help show your support for our NEW Community Fit Trail on THANKSGIVING MORNING, November 28, at annual Top Dog Turkey Trot! The event, which is open to the entire community, will be held on the Green Valley and West Middle School campuses. The 4K will start at 8:30 am. All proceeds will support the Top Dog Fit Trail. The Spring 2020 Lacrosse season will begin in March. You can register online by visiting our website or click on the
link.
Register online before January 6, 2020, and your registration cost is only $95. All online registrations made on/after January 6th 2020, will be at our standard, regular rate of $125.
If you are in need of a new pinnie, or if you are new to the program this year, we will hold a pinnie fitting on Wednesday, November 13, at the Wilson High School Lower House cafeteria from 7pm - 8pm.

Collecting Donations for Stocking for Soldiers
|
|
We've got some pretty amazing, community-minded students here at Wilson! Anthony Fiore, a seventh grade student at Southern Middle School, is collecting much needed items for deployed troops overseas. The organization is called Keystone Military Families and the project is Stockings for Soldiers. They collect donations to provide holiday stockings for troops overseas. As the Youth Ambassador for Keystone Military Families, this is Anthony’s seventh year organizing the collection. Donations can be brought to Southern Middle School or special arrangements can be made to collect items in other building locations. Click
