Determining COVID-19 Testing Sites
At the end of each week, the Houston Health Department evaluates all data related to identified positive cases of COVID-19 that have emerged in our city. The City works to identify and isolate those who have tested positive, and based on those results and other data and information collected by contact tracers, specific actions are taken to control community spread. New test sites are determined at the end of each week, and the sites for the following week are publicly announced soon afterwards. The list of new testing locations is then updated and can easily be accessed through links listed in the District H newsletter.

The approach to determining testing site locations is also based on access and equity. Test saturation information from the CDC and vulnerability data from UT-Houston identified 20 priority Houston communities to address our most vulnerable and at-risk neighborhoods, many of which are in District H. There is more info in this news release.

Please consider getting tested. The test is free and easy. The City of Houston's FREE COVID-19 drive-thru testing sites  are available to ANYONE, regardless of symptoms. Call  832-393-4220  to be provided an access code and instructions on where to go.  Drive-thru testing sites  are also available -  more info on that here.

Houston Public Works Needs Your Help to Reduce Sewer Overflows
The main cause of sanitary sewer overflows in Houston is clogged pipes from fats, oils and grease poured down sinks and wipes flushed down toilets. These items block our wastewater lines and cause overflows into our streets and homes that harm our environment and health.

How can we prevent sewer overflows?
Houston Public Works reminds residents to dispose of fats, oils, and grease in the trash. You can contain it in a jar, can, or bag, cool it, and once full, toss it in the trash.

Houston Public Works also reminds residents that only the Three P’s - pee, poo, and (toilet) paper belong in the toilet. Everything else should go in the trash.
