Message from President
Carrie Pavis
Hello Beautiful Soropti Sisters,

It’s hard to believe that on Wednesday I will be leading my last business meeting. It’s also hard to believe that we will once again be using Zoom to communicate, and vote using Survey Monkey. This is not really how I expected my last few months being President of SIC would be.

I miss all of you so much and I really can’t wait to be able to meet again in person. I hope you are all doing well and are making the best of this situation. I look forward to seeing all of you at the business meeting and please make sure you vote for the motions that will be brought to you by our Giving Committee through Survey Monkey.

Have a great week.

President,
If you are unfamiliar with using Zoom, please click on the Zoom logo below for instructions

Sign Drop-Off
We are so happy you all loved your sign surprise recently!! The signs are a gift and absolutely yours to keep. Some of you may not want to store/keep it forever though, so we wanted to offer the option to return your sign for future use. If you would like us to store the sign, please drop it off on either Bonnie's (4166 Augusta Lane) or Billie's (24 Upper Lake Court) front porch anytime from now until the end of June. * note, if dropping at Billie's do not confuse Lower Lake Court . Thank-you!

THINGS TO KNOW

COVID-19 has a far reaching  impact on education , especially for women and girls.

The recently passed  CARES Act   makes it easier to donate and save money at the same time.

SIA Procedures   have been updated as a result of changes during a recent emergency Board meeting. See page 4, B. 3. Meetings and Voting; and page 9, F. 4. Conferences, Meeting, and Voting.

Convention content is coming soon, and other important  convention updates  are now available.
Summer Socializing with SI Chico

Hello Soropti-sisters!

We are going to shake up our usual practice of summertime drop-in lunches in light of COVID-19 and hope that we can still socialize through the months of July and August comfortably. As you may know, we usually alternate through the list of member owned restaurants each Wednesday at noon through the summer, allowing members who are inclined and available to meet up with others and enjoy lunch while supporting our member's businesses. With social distancing and varying levels of comfort with dine-in, we decided to change this plan for summer 2020.

We will alternate take-out lunches and meeting at local parks with backyard morning coffee gatherings. ( Summer schedule below)

See you all this summer

SI Objectives
Backyard morning coffee:  Some of our members have offered their backyards for these (socially distanced) morning gatherings. Please plan to bring your own coffee (or other beverage) and a chair. Enter directly to each member's backyard. It will be great to hang out together. (9:00 a.m.)

July 1 – Coffee @ 9:00, Bonnie Chapman’s backyard

July 15 – Coffee @ 9:00, Carol Burr’s backyard

August 5 – Coffee @ 9:00, Jeanne Smith’s backyard

August 19 – Coffee @9:00 Carrie Pavis’s backyard

Take-out lunches:  Our schedule will list the "suggested" take-out restaurant for each of these and then designate a shade covered picnic area in one of our parks for the lunchtime meet-up. Brown bagging is always an option. (noon)

July 8 – La Comida – Pick up lunch and eat at Wildwood Park

July 22 - Spiteri - Pick up lunch and eat at Wildwood Park

July 29 – SOL – Pick up lunch and eat at DeGarmo Park

August 12 – Cozy Diner – Pick up lunch and eat at Wildwood Park

August 26 – La Hacienda – Pick up lunch and eat at DeGarmo Park

100 Year Legacy Project
This project will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Soroptimist. Our organization was started by a dedicated group of women who came together to network and help improve the lives of women and girls.

In honor of our founding sisters and to celebrate our SI Chico Club history, we would like to do a club legacy project that will benefit our local community for years to come. This project will be a joint project starting during President Billie’s club year and continuing through President Sara's club year.

Billie and Sara are compiling a list of suggestions for our SI Chico Club Legacy Project. They would like to encourage all club members to share their suggestions through this survey. If you have an idea how our club could make a lasting impact on our local community through our 100 Year Legacy Project please submit it.

With Gratitude,

Billie and Sara

As you may have suspected, The 2020 Home and Garden Show will not be taking place this month as originally planned. Instead, it has been rescheduled to the new dates of July 25 and July 26 . Our obligation and schedule will remain the same, however we will start over with a new sign-up genius. We realize it's difficult to know what our plans will be in July, but please go ahead and sign up and each of us can easily change our chosen shift if needed at a later date.

Thank-you everyone!
