Dear Sea Pines Property Owners:
Over the last several weeks, the CSA Get Out The Vote Committee, which I chair has spent countless hours calling, texting and writing to you seeking your vote on the Critical Funding Referendum. We were determined to assure that as many property owners as possible understood the terms of the Referendum and voiced their views by voting. WE DO NOT WANT THE REFERENDUM TO BE NEGATIVELY AFFECTED BY VOTER APATHY!!
This Referendum is among the most important choices residential property owners have faced over the last decade or more. Board elections are important in determining who will lead CSA. But without proper funding, no Board will be able to appropriately fix and maintain our aging infrastructure. And at some point, the lack of adequate funding from our annual assessments will mean that funds used just to patch our aging infrastructure may result in reductions in administrative personnel, the loss of services like mulch delivery and debris pickup and even a reduction in our security staff and resulting loss of security services. Opponents of the Referendum can claim that our funding problems can be solved by looking to the Resort or gate fees to pay millions more each year, but unless property owners agree to pay a fair share for infrastructure repair and maintenance - and is paying less than $10 more per week after three years really unreasonable - our aging infrastructure will continue to deteriorate.
I know that you all have received lots of information from CSA and those who support the Referendum, as well as from various groups who seek its defeat. While the experience of our Get out the Vote Committee convinces us that the overwhelming majority of property owners enthusiastically support the Referendum, it takes only 25% of NO votes cast to defeat it. We need EVERY property owner who supports the Referendum to vote, or a very small minority of opponents could negatively impact our community for a long time.
With only a few days left to return ballots (which must be postmarked by June 21), there are still more than 1,900 ballots that have not been returned. I am therefore writing one last time to ask any property owner who has not yet voted to take the time TODAY to fill out and return your Referendum Ballot. Please do not delay your vote any further.
Together we can assure that Sea Pines remains the premier community on Hilton Head. Thank you for your support.
Regards,
