LASP Secures Wrongfully Denied Benefits

Losing a job is devastating. Being denied a rightful claim to unemployment compensation makes the despair even worse.

Mr. B* worked for six years as a successful commissioned salesman. When his "numbers began to slip," however, his nightmare began. First he lost his job. Then he was unfairly denied Unemployment Compensation when his former employer wrongly reported that his termination was caused by his "not working to the best of his abilities."

Mr. B, who was a hard worker and knew this claim to be untrue, came to LASP for help . With the guidance of his attorney, he appealed the denial of his claim, and won a new hearing. His LASP attorney then established that Mr. B had indeed worked to the best of his abilities and did nothing to cause his firing.

The hearing Referee agreed and found Mr. B eligible for more than $4,000 in UC benefits

While he searched for new employment, Mr. B was secure in knowing that he had the temporary financial cushion of the UC benefits, and that justice had been achieved.

When you  donate   to  LASP, you  make it possible to reach more people in need --- people like Mr. B.
