Are you ready for the 2019 NBA Draft??? Here's some thoughts from our end.

The NBA Draft is a crapshoot. What just happened in the NBA Finals was the latest proof of that, as the Toronto Raptors managed to win the championship without a single former lottery pick on the roster.

But what is a virtual certainty about the draft is that there will be former Culligan City of Palms Classic players in it. R.J. Barrett (Montverde Academy) is poised to lead the way, as it seems he and the New York Knicks are locked in on each other at pick No. 3 - unless the Knicks trade that pick, of course.

He and four others are in strong position to become lottery picks, at the very least, if not top 10 picks. Darius Garland from Brentwood Academy (Nashville, Tennessee) missed most of his lone season at Vanderbilt, but he's a threat to be picked.....

Cam Thomas left little doubt about his scoring prowess when he visited the Culligan City of Palms Classic in December. The 6-foot-3 Class of 2020 shooting guard led the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League in scoring this year with 29.5 points per game, and he really turned it on over Memorial Day weekend in the EYBL's Dallas session. Thomas had outings of 42 and 41 points during his team's five-game run, and his 32.6 points per game scoring average for the weekend led to him being named EYBL.....

When he went last, he became the first.

Toney Mack was the final player selected in the 1989 NBA Draft, going 54th overall to the Philadelphia 76ers. He was also the first player who appeared at the Culligan City of Palms Classic history to be taken in the NBA Draft.

That mark has since been eclipsed, but his title as 1985 Florida Mr. Basketball lives on, as do the memories of his 63-point performance against East Bay and the 71 points he scored three nights later versus Winter Haven.

Mack was so gifted a scorer that at a high school all-star event in Washington, D.C., members of the opposing team asked for his autograph. The nation got to know him in the May 13, 1985 issue of Sports Illustrated, which featured him....
