The View from Here: Contemporary Perspectives from Senegal will be on view at the Paul W. Zuccaire Gallery during the Stony Brook Film Festival, which runs from July 18 through July 27 at Staller Center. A reception will be held on Saturday, July 20, from 5 pm to 7 pm. All are welcome, and admission is free.
A Tai chi for health workshop is being offered Wednesdays and Fridays July 17 - August 30th at Stony Brook Specialty Care in Commack. Tai chi is an ancient Chinese practice that combines slow moving with deep breathing. Using the principles and movements of Tai Chi, this workshop is designed for adults with Arthritis.

Bettina Fries is a nationally recognized physician-scientist in the field of microbiology. The focus of her research is on the pathogenesis of chronic infection by the pathogen, Cryptococcus neoformans, as well as investigations on the efficacy of anti-infective antibodies. She has been investigating both the host response to chronic C neoformans infection and the molecular mechanisms that allow the fungus to change based on the host response. She is also focused on the development of monoclonal antibodies against Staphylococcal enterotoxin B (SEB) and Klebsiella pneumonia.
