Congratulations Class of 2019!
More than 3,300 high school seniors from GGUSD graduated from the district’s eight high schools during commencement ceremonies held June 13 and June 14. The Class of 2019 has an impressive list of academic accolades and exciting plans for college, career, and lifelong success.

Among the Class of 2019, 1,050 students report that they have chosen to attend a UC or CSU school. GGUSD students consistently beat the county and stage average on completion of rigorous a-g college entrance exams. 

Students in the Class of 2019 finished high school with more than 7,800 Advanced Placement courses completed and 57% of GGUSD seniors completed one or more AP course, many with college credits already under their belts.
GGUSD Offers Free Summer Meals at 15 Sites
GGUSD is offering a free Summer Meal program to help ensure that children have access to nutritious meals when school is not in session. The program will provide free summer lunch, available at 15 locations, to all children age 18 and under and all individuals with disabilities, regardless of age.
GGUSD Board Honors June Employees of the Month
GGUSD's Board of Education recognized our June Employees of the Month Tan Vo, custodian at Stanford Elementary and Jenna Cruzat, special education teacher.
Doig Intermediate School Hosts 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony
Doig Intermediate School hosted an eighth grade promotion ceremony last week to congratulate scholars on success in middle school! These scholars are ready to tackle the rigor of high school! Great job Spartans!
GGUSD Student Receives Magical Wheelchair Makeover
Parkview Elementary School fifth grade student Kathleen Ha received a magical wheelchair makeover during a school-wide celebration last week. Her new Harry Potter inspired wheelchair costume was designed by Magic Wheelchair, a non-profit organization whose volunteers build epic costumes for children in wheelchairs. 

The designers of Kathleen’s wheelchair costume have experience working in Hollywood on the sets of famous movies and put a lot of care into building a creation that she would like. Parkview students and staff cheered for Kathleen as the Magic Wheelchair volunteers revealed their $1,700 wheelchair costume, complete with make believe creatures straight from Hogwarts including an Occamy, Gryffindor, and glow in the dark paint. Kathleen also received a sorting hat, robe, and wand to make her Halloween costume complete.

Registration is Open for Preschool
Registration is now open for Garden Grove Unified School District’s high quality preschool programs. Enroll today for the 2019-2020 school year for one of the following preschool programs:

 
  • Brand new affordable full-day preschool at the Skylark Campus (offered at 11250 Mac Murray St., Garden Grove)
 
The new Skylark fee-based Preschool will have highly-trained credentialed teachers who provide students with a warm and caring preschool experience. The preschool will offer enrichment activities in dual language, technology, science, engineering, arts, math, and more. The full-day, fee-based program will provide the same exceptional educational curriculum offered in our half-day state preschool program, with opportunities for before and after school care. 
 
Children born between 12/3/2014 and 12/1/2016 are age eligible for our program. Space is limited for our 3-year-old classes for students born between 12/3/2015 and 09/1/2016.
