CLASSES THIS SUNDAY
Sunday School classes begin at 9:10 a.m. Child care is available for children five and younger in the nursery.
Elementary School Children
The class meets in Room 3 of the Education Wing for a Bible lesson using the Godly Play approach.
Confirmation Class
T
he confirmands will travel with the group from LCGS going to worship at Living Waters Lutheran Church in Cherokee, NC. There will not be a class at LCGS.
The class will look at one of the Bible readings for the day using the Serendipity Bible for groups. All confirmed high school youth and adults are welcome to attend this class.

WEDNESDAY ADVENT DINNER AND WORSHIP SERVICES
During
Wednesdays in Advent, December 4, 11, and 18, Good Shepherd will offer dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m. followed by a brief worship service using Holden Evening Prayer at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome. Please join us!

CALL PROCESS UPDATE
After numerous interviews and much prayerful deliberation, the Call Committee has identified and recommended a candidate to the congregation Council to be the "Primary Candidate" for pastor of LCGS. The Council will now meet with the candidate and vote on the committee's recommendation. If approved, information about the candidate will be shared with the congregation, there will be an opportunity for the congregation and candidate to meet,
and voting members of the congregation will then vote on whether or not to extend a call to this candidate. We request your continued prayers, asking God's guidance in this important decision.

DECORATE FOR CHRISTMAS
On
Wednesday, December 4,
at 10:00 a.m., all are welcome to help decorate Good Shepherd for the Advent and Christmas seasons. Many hands are needed to decorate the sanctuary as well as the fellowship hall and outside. Come one, come all! Thank you!

CHRISTMAS POINSETTIAS
If you would like to sponsor a white poinsettia to help decorate the sanctuary for Christmas Eve, please sign up on the bulletin board or call the church office. The cost per plant is $4.00, which you can place in the offering plate or turn in to office staff. If you wish, you can take your poinsettias home any time after the Christmas Eve worship service. JOIN THE TRASH TEAM
This is a special opportunity to join the elite Trash Team! One day every week a team member reports to the church to empty trash containers and deliver the collected trash to the curb. Time required is 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the amount of time spent talking with our personable church staff.
Months currently available are December, January, June and September. First to respond picks their month of service.

Did you know that every time you purchase an Ingles card at Good Shepherd, you're making a donation to the church? Because Good Shepherd buys Ingles cards in bulk, we purchase them at a discounted price. So for every $100 Ingles card you buy, Good Shepherd receives $5. That seemingly small amount can really add up over time!
Ingles cards are available for purchase during coffee hours and during regular church office hours (Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) Thank you!

FAIR TRADE SALE THIS SUNDAY

, at both coffee hours, come visit the fair trade sale in the Fellowship Hall, where you can purchase an assortment of coffee, chocolate, tea, and other fair trade foods. Each sale benefits small-scale farmers around the world. What a great way to do some Christmas shopping!

BAKED SWEET POTATOES NEEDED
Good Shepherd has been asked to provide the baked sweet potatoes for the free 21st Annual Community Christmas Dinner that will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on December 25. The pans and recipe will be provided and available in the Fellowship Hall
by December 10.
Twenty-three pans of sweet potatoes are needed. Please sign up on the bulletin board if you're willing to help. Thank you for assisting with this community tradition.

STOCKINGS FOR LIVING WATERS
Jackie Jenkins is stuffing Christmas stockings with small gifts that a group from Good Shepherd will take to Living Waters Lutheran Church when they go to worship with the Living Waters congregation this Sunday, December 1. The Christmas stockings will be given to families from the Cherokee community who come to the annual Christmas Store that the Living Waters congregation provides for their community. Our gifts of these stockings is one way we at Good Shepherd are participating in the ministry of Living Waters with whom we are mission partners.

CHRISTMAS CONCERTS
The Blue Ridge Ringers hand bell choir, which include some of Good Shepherd's members, will present their holiday concert, Christmas around the World, on Sunday, December 1, at 4:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd, and on Tuesday, December 3, at noon at Transylvania County Library.
First United Methodist Church is holding a Christmas Organ Recital series on the first three Fridays in December beginning at 12:30 p.m. The organists will be Timothy Shepard (December 6), Vance Reese (December 13) and Jeremy Roberts (December 20).
A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols will take place on
Saturday, December 7 beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Porter Center.
Transylvania Choral Society and Brevard College Chamber Singers will present the North American Premiere of Bob Chilcott's Christmas Oratorio on Thursday, December 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Porter Center. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at Highland Books in Brevard or through TCS' website. Vance Reese will play the organ and David Gresham will conduct.

INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE STUDENT
Wouldn't it be great to have an international exchange student in your home for three months?
Ask the Kennerly, Emaus, and Onnink families how they enjoyed this opportunity of international friendship and hospitality. You do not have to have a student in high school to be a host.

BOOKS ARRIVE IN THE PHILIPPINES
You may remember hearing about the book drive that Brevard High School held earlier this year in conjunction with the Brevard Rotary Club. The books were for the people of North Samar in The Philippines, of which our own Ann Farash and Paul Onnink are connected.You may have wondered about how all those books would arrive at their destination. Here are a couple of pictures. The big shipment boxes are called Balikbayan boxes, and each costs $100 to ship.

PRESIDING BISHOP STATEMENT ON WEST BANK
ELCA Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton issued a statement last week on the change in U.S. policy regarding Israeli settlements in the West Bank:
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is very disturbed by the November 18 announcement by Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo that the Administration unwisely is changing current U.S. policy by stating that the "establishment of Israeli civilian settlements in the West Bank is not per se inconsistent with international law."
