 CAHEC's 18th Annual Partners
Conference a Big Success
|
This year, we reached record attendance with over 500 attendees at the 18th Annual CAHEC Partners Conference on Tuesday, June 4, and Wednesday, June 5, at the
Grandover Resort & Conference Center
in Greensboro, NC. Attendees were offered an amazing line-up of speakers and sessions, with topics ranging from Lessons Learned from Natural Disasters to The Pros and Cons of Income Averaging.
One of the highlights of the conference was the Tuesday evening welcome reception, where guests gathered on the Outdoor Lawn for a 60's themed event. Attendees broke out their tie-dye and fringe for a night filled with groovy food, drinks, games, and a photo booth. We also invited DJ Randy back again this year from
Bunn DJ Company
to ensure the atmosphere stayed lively with a mix of hits from the 1960's and today!

Congrats to our 2019 Award Recipients!

On Wednesday, June 5, CAHEC hosted the annual CAHEC Awards ceremony as part of the Partners Appreciation Luncheon for attendees. For the past 18 years, we have been privileged to recognize individuals and organizations for their significant contribution to the affordable housing industry.
CAHEC is pleased to share the winners of the 2019 CAHEC Awards:
- Investor of the Year: Freddie Mac
- Excellence in Supportive Housing: Sky Hope Recovery Center, Somerset, Kentucky
- Outstanding Community Impact: Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center, Clarksburg, West Virginia
- Resident Spotlight: Gerald Tubbs, Jr., Parkside Apartments, Lexington, Kentucky
- Lifetime Achievement in Affordable Housing: Roger Earnhardt

Mission in Action
|
- A special thank you to our partners who helped with the CAHEC Foundation's canned fruit drive to help Stop Summer Hunger! Thank you to Pendergraph Companies, Prosource Fitness Equipment, The LEEdership Institute, Greystone, United Property Management, Excel Property Management, and Evergreen Construction for their donations to help us meet our 1,000 can goal!
- Congrats to Springhill Apartments in Staunton, VA, on receiving $6,500 through the CAHEC Foundation's Rex Williams Wellness Grant. Funding was used to help provide quality exercise equipment for their on-site wellness room. We are sure the residents will love this amenity.

Open Doors Homeownership Grant Deadline: July 31

There is still time to share CAHEC's
Open Doors Homeownership Grant opportunity! This year, we are offering three grants totaling $50,000 to nonprofit organizations engaged in developing for-sale affordable housing to low-income households - one at $25,000; one at $15,000; and one at $10,000. Applications must be submitted through our online
application portal by July 31 to be considered.
