DeAnne Hatfield sworn in as newest board member
Following the canvassing of election results, DeAnne Hatfield was sworn in as the newest member of the Northwest ISD Board of Trustees.
Mrs. Hatfield serves in Place 1 on the school board, filling a seat vacated earlier this year. She began serving on the board immediately after her swearing in, officially voting on agenda items following the ceremony.
Construction manager for Haslet replacement approved
Trustees voted to approve Adolfson & Peterson Construction as the construction manager for the Haslet Elementary School replacement, which begins the process to build a new campus to replace the existing school.
The new campus will use the district’s new elementary school design, the same model used for the currently under-construction Lance Thompson Elementary School in Harvest. Images of the construction of that school
can be seen here. The new Haslet replacement school will be located within the LeTara development, just west of the intersection of F.M. 156 and Avondale Haslet Road.
Following the completion of the new campus, the district will remodel the existing campus for administrative purposes, such as staff training and additional offices.
Fire alarm replacements at Medlin, Pike approved
Work at Medlin and Pike middle schools will begin in the next few weeks following trustees approval for the schools’ fire alarm system replacements.
Northstar Builders will conduct the work at the schools, with the scheduled completion date set before the start of the 2019-20 school year.
In other action, the board
- Recognized graduates of Northwest ISD’s LEAP and LEAD programs, which train staff members for leadership and further advancement.
- Recognized graduates of Leadership NISD, Northwest ISD’s program for parents, guardians and community members who wish to take a leadership role in their school communities. - Recognized district schools that have achieved Project ADAM certification for their work ensuring their schools are prepared for cardiac emergencies (Beck, Cox, Justin, Lakeview and Thompson elementary schools; Pike and Wilson middle schools; Byron Nelson, Eaton and Northwest high schools).
- Recognized Justin Elementary School’s Kingsley Washam, one of the state’s seven Outstanding Interpretation Award recipients for Texas PTA Reflections.
- Heard the student services department’s district effectiveness report. Board presentations can be seen at this link.
- Approved a competitive sealed proposal method for Beck Elementary School renovations so the district can begin receiving proposals from potential construction managers.
