Through Cristo Rey's Corporate Work Study Program partnership with Land O’Lakes, sophomores Miriam Ralales and Leslie Rodriguez recently were provided the opportunity to visit a dairy foods plant in Pine Island, MN.
While working at Land O’ Lakes through the CWSP program, students have the opportunity to explore a variety of different aspects of the company including sourcing, customer logistics, and research and development. During an informational interview with the senior VP of Manufacturing, these two students sparked interest in learning more about a career in engineering and supply chain management. Due to their interest, the students were given the opportunity to be exposed to manufacturing and operations of a local plant.
While reflecting on her experience, Leslie noted that her favorite part was seeing the machinery. She was fascinated by the huge barrels of cheese that arrive and the process they go through to turn it into dried cheese powder. While at the plant, Leslie was also appreciative of the safety standards that are in place to ensure an output of high quality products. Thank you, Land O’Lakes, for continuing to support our students and creating opportunities for career exploration!
