Breakfast for the Homeless

As part of its "Feeding the body, Feeding the soul" program/mission, FFUMC members (Scott Blazer; Kelly Clancy; Austin, Barry and Leslie Goss; Scott Hilbelink; Patrick and Scott Milliken; and Aidan and Jason Yarbrough) monthly prepare a breakfast in the church kitchen to serve to the homeless who live under the bridges in Knoxville and who are not residents of the area missions. This program began this spring and will continue through the summer. Approximately 170 homeless are served each month 360 eggs, 200 biscuits, 200 sausage patties, 150 hash brown patties and 2-3 gallons of sausage gravy. This food has been contributed by Scott Blazers company and by a contribution from the FFUMC UMM. Pastor Chuck Powell feeds the spiritual appetites of the participants.

If you'd like to help support this activity, contact Kelly Clancy at  jkclandman@aol.com.

We are 5 days away from the start of another year of Vacation Bible School!

Every year, I'm amazed not only at the work that goes into this event but the incredible impact it has on so many children and their families.

This year, our theme is "To Mars and Beyond." It'll be a wonderful experience as we encourage the children to grow in their faith as we "go beyond" with faith, boldness, thankfulness and kindness.

A special thanks to all who have already worked so hard to make this a reality once again, and to all who will be working hard throughout the rest of this week and next week to impact these young lives for the kingdom.

Let us continue to pray for another fun, safe, and spiritually uplifting week of VBS at First Farragut!

Blessings,
Chuck
Family Promise
Family Promise Host Week
July 7th - July 14th

Helping end homelessness,
one family at a time!

Many people are needed to help as we welcome homeless families into
our church for a week, providing a safe place for children and their families to sleep.

Volunteers are needed to setup after Sunday school on July 7th, breakdown the morning of July 14th, stay overnight, fix dinner, and fellowship with the children and adults.

Check the sign-up board located on Main Street to see how YOU can
help and to volunteer. You won't want to miss out on this life-changing
mission! For more information or to volunteer, contact Steve Krupski at
(865) 548-7487 or
sjktools@charter.net .
Join us! First Farragut will have a float on July 4th in this year's Farragut Independence Day Parade. We need kids to ride on the trailer and adults to walk along and hand out goodies.

Please email Chuck oPaige by June 28th, if you can participate. Thanks for showing your support of FFUMC by joining us in the parade on July 4th!

Important Parade Reminders:
  • Meet in the Farragut High School parking lot around 8:00 - 8:15 a.m.
  • Kingston Pike will close at 8:30 a.m. Please give yourself time to  get into the lot.
  • Please bring your own sunscreen and water bottle.
  • Children under 10 must ride on the float, youth and adults can walk next to the float or ride if you have difficulty with walking.
Wesley's Attic Needs Children's Clothes

Wesley's Attic needs CHILDREN's clothing sizes BABY - CHILD's Size 12 ONLY. We especially need boys sizes 5-8 and girls sizes 3-5. We do NOT need larger sizes. Gently used, clean shoes of any size are welcome. We will also be collecting coats for adults and children. Children's hoodie fleece jackets are especially needed. Our next FFUMC Mobile Pantry with Central UMC will be July 27 when all the above items will be distributed.

Did You Know ....   that the church campus has finally gotten its spring face-lift? This past Saturday mulch was  wheelbarrow-ed and spread along the front of the church, the front flower bed circle and surrounding the trees in front of the church and the east and north sides of the parking lot. The playground shrubs and the driveway trees also were mulched. Appreciation is extended by the Landscape Committee to Ann Walker, Ray Peterson, Judy Westenhaver, Bob and Lara Burn, Stephen Richardson, Clark Brekke, and Robert Whatley and his son Jackson, for mulching; to Harry Pullum for weed spraying; and to Teresa and Randy Belles for completing the lovely memorial garden on the east side of the church. It all looks spiffy!!
