Applications are now being accepted for the position of Interim Dean for Research, a role responsible for leading the research enterprise at Georgetown University Medical Center. The Interim Dean will serve for a term of up to two years, during which time a search for a permanent Dean will be launched. Entrance 1 off Reservoir Road will be closed for the remainder of the construction of the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital Medical/Surgical Pavilion, effective June 22. No passenger vehicles will be permitted to enter. A combination of elevated symptoms of depression along with modifications in a gene responsible for dopamine activity, appear to influence an addiction to indoor tanning, according to a survey of 292 non-Hispanic white women in a study led by researchers at Georgetown Lombardi and published in the Annals of Behavioral Medicine.
A study published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine found that of 93 different bottles of probiotics purchased from four large national probiotic retailers in the Washington, D.C., area, only 33 (35%) could be linked to medical efficacy as supported by clinical evidence. 
Enrollment is now open for a clinical trial being led by Georgetown University at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, testing the safety and efficacy of abaloparatide toward treating men with osteoporosis, a systemic skeletal disease affecting approximately 20% of men over the age of 50.

The Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security partnered with former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright to launch the International Rescue Committee (IRC)’s feminist humanitarian policy, which will address insecurities and injustices faced by women and girls around the world, including gender-based violence, child marriage and maternal mortality.
