January 15, 2021
Hi folks,

We are officially at the midpoint of the school year as today marks the final day of the first semester. Today is a half day for students, and our staff will be working this afternoon to articulate students changing settings and to begin preparing final grades for report cards. We plan to send report cards to families next Friday, January 22nd.

A quick thank you to Lauren Schuster and Jonathan Maer for helping out with this week's RLA Materials Pickup. For families who missed it, please contact Mrs. Gail in the main office to set a time to pick up your materials. For our in-person families, we look forward to seeing students this Tuesday. Please remember to self-certify your child before arriving at school. Also, please view the links below for visual reminders of our dropoff and pickup procedures and locations. Unless students are attending AM study hall, they cannot enter the building until 8:15am.

Enjoy the long weekend...
Scott

Traffic update
As we return to in-person instruction for many of our students we once again ask for your patience as we resume our car line procedures before and after school. With the colder temps, we will likely see an increase in traffic congestion as fewer students ride their bikes or walk to school. We ask drivers to be cautious as we safely transition students in and out of the building each day.
The links below provide a visual reminder of drop-off and pick-up procedures. We have our 6th and 8th graders in front of school -- one lane in the morning, two lanes in the afternoon -- and 7th graders in the Meadowhill Pool lot south of the school. Buses will use the staff parking lot by the gym lobby doors for dropoff and pickup. We have several staff members in fluorescent vests assisting with the dropoff/pickup procedures. Here are the aerial maps of dropoff and pickup:

Winter Gear Drive
Our Builders Club will continue collecting coats and other winter gear throughout next week. The bin is located just inside the main entrance doors and is readily accessible during school hours.

Lunch Orders
You can place an order for lunch next week through Organic Life by visiting the NBJH Lunch Menu page.

L.I.F.T. Day/Career Day
The NBJH PTO is hoping to still host a Career Day for students later this spring. This is a biennial event that was cancelled last spring, so we would like to offer this special opportunity for this year's students. To coordinate an event such as this we need to enlist some volunteers to plan for the day. If interested, please sign up with this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0d4daead2ea5fb6-lift

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Group Volunteers Needed
We are looking for 5-6 parent volunteers to support the district's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee. This group will be tasked with reading and providing feedback on materials created by the DEI steering committee. All of the work will be independent with specific time frames in which to submit comments. No meetings -- virtual or in-person -- will be required. Volunteers need only have an interest in supporting the district's DEI efforts, though perspectives from volunteers of diverse ethnic, cultural, and family backgrounds are always appreciated. Please complete this form if you're interested in participating.
